we hated aspen as well. Fortunately we stayed in basalt which was wonderful. A few hours in aspen was more than enough

Our youngest daughter got married so travel funds were limited. We took one trip after her wedding to Disneyland.
New airport: SNA
New city: Anaheim
Coming up in 2026
Las Vegas in January to go to the Sphere
Washington D C for the 250th celebration
Cotswolds probably in December

quote:this year we traveled mostly to see live music
Concerts and music festivals seem to be your main travel factor? Any cool bands?
dead ahead festival in cancun was bob weir, sturgill simpson and others
lots of billy strings (nashville, st aug, missoula, huntsville)
grand targhee bluegrass festival (greensky bluegrass, yonder mountain, stringdusters, molly tuttle, lukas nelson)
dead 60 in SFCA was dead & co, billy strings, sturgill and trey anastasio
its a great way to see new places and/or revisit favorites and to meet new people

I concluded my Ethiopia trip in 2025, but I unfortunately had to cancel my plans to visit Egypt and South Africa. My only other travel was a short trip to NYC.
New airports:
AXU - Axum
LLI - Lalibela
GDQ - Gondar
2026 Plans
This coming year, I'm taking my daughter and son-in-law to Italy next May/June for 12 days: Rome, Tuscany, Florence, and Venice. I was in Rome in 2016, but I haven't been to Florence, Siena, or Venice since 1992, and we'll have a couple of days in small Tuscan towns that I have never visited: Orvieto, Pienza, and San Gimignano. My daughter and son-in-law have never been.

Surprised to not see LAX, PHX or BOS on your AA connecting city list. I guess you can fly everywhere from DFW though...
Fun fact - I have never once flown through BOS. I occasionally connect in PHX when I go to SEA, but not many MSY-PHX flights to move it. LAX is rare for me as well because of the extra connection to get there.
I use DFW/MIA for APAC and LATAM and CLT/PHL mostly for EMEA.

We go to Los Angeles, Houston and Tallahassee a lot to visit kids/family. Other than that:
Tampa
Dallas
Orlando
Buffalo

Off the top of my head...
Light international travel year with only Costa Rica, and no new airports.
Other than CR mix of work and pleasure US travel, no new airports or flight destinations. Some new small towns/cities driving.
Flights for the year:
NYC 4x
Chicago 3x
DC 1x
Baltimore 1x
Miami 2x
Tampa 1x
Bay Area 2x
Houston 1x
Boston 1x
Also took 8-9 Amtrak trips, no overnights. New trains included the Mardi Gras line on the gulf coast and the next gen Acela in the NE corridor.

Even with all of my travels, I've never flown through PHX or BOS.

Never been to BOS but have been to Sky Harbor many times. Nice airport.

I've done both, but I have never been to or through SEA, PDX, DTW, or SLC. I've been in every other US airline hub.

I’m doing something wrong with my life….
Let’s see… road trips to Nashville, Huntsville, Birmingham, 30A, St. Louis and Indianapolis!
