'm debating on grabbing a short-term rental in SLC while I have the work from home mandate. Some backcountry skiing would definitely be in order

Have you been avalanche trained? Do you know where to go backcountry skiing near SLC? If not then this sounds like a horrible idea. If you get in trouble you can't count on there being anyone out there to bail you out.

State of Colorado just sent an email out saying to avoid contact with people who have been in Eagle, Summit, Pitkin, and Gunnison counties. Asking people who have been there to self quarantine for 14 days.

Guess they expecting a bigly outbreak. Guess I’m glad my kids didn’t wanna go up last week even though we were planning winter park.

Got back from Crested Butte late last night. Great week of skiing but apparently 2 restaurants where we ate are now closed due to staff members that tested positive

IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE:
Anyone who has been in Eagle, Summit, Pitkin, or Gunnison counties in the past week should minimize all contact with other people, whether or not they are experiencing symptoms.
County public health and emergency management agencies will provide more detailed guidance for residents and visitors within their communities. The general guidance from CDPHE is as follows:
??If you live in Colorado and are leaving one of these communities, you should minimize contact with other people for 14 days and watch for the development of symptoms like cough, fever, and shortness of breath.
??If you are visiting Colorado from out of state and do not currently have symptoms (cough, fever, and shortness of breath), you can return home and practice social distancing there.
??If you have symptoms, stay where you are, isolate yourself from others, and call a health care provider or nurse line before seeking care. Do not fly. Do not use public transportation or ride-shares.

this is what CDPHE sent out

Seems like Eagle County(Vail) was the hardest hit so far with 18 cases. Think Gunnison County(Crested Butte) has 3.

they should have immediately closed the slopes.
now you have all these out-of-towners returning home from eagle/etc and possibly spreading the infection

Summit County is shut the frick down. All non-residents out by Thursday. Hotels, airbnb, time shares closed by midday Thursday. Businesses all closed restaurants take out only.

I'd say this puts the nail in the coffin on ski season coming back.

Really interested to see what the resorts do for season pass holders.

Vail’s updated response just now was essentially “too bad, so sad”. That was the same response when I tried to cancel a room for this weekend.

Pro rated refund, based on how many days you have left.

It's the same thing they do if you get injured, and can't finish the season.

Vail posted a reimbursement form this morning on Instagram. The bold line at the top said “Not for Season Passes Holders”. I don’t expect to get a dime.

It is what it is, they couldn't control this just like if we would have had a season end early or start late due to no snow. Epic and Ikon own us and they know it. What are you gonna do, get a Monarch pass?

There’s still a lot of folks from out of town here, I’m not really sure why though. There are still quite a few rental and Texas plates around and half the front range still comes up to ski and boot pack skin tracks. Businesses may not be open but trailheads are definitely full.

Hell, our management changed the door codes...we aren't welcome...haha.

I got an Epic notice today...smells like 2019/2020 pass holders may get a little relief in a month or two.

I've got the opportunity to attend a conference in Sun Valley, ID mid March of next year. How is Sun Valley for beginners? I'd be bringing the wife and kids if it worked out.
