Bringing the Family to Cali this summer. We'll have 2 full days in San Fran.
Any recs? Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, other recs?
Any places to avoids- (Tenderloin?)

Quite a few hotels in this area of Market, so Tenderloin may be a necessary hazard, but there's also a pocket of SoMa near Mission that's worse than I've ever seen Tenderloin, personally.

Muir woods ,coit tower , giants game , Napa and Sonoma , haight Ashbury , Sausalito , and toronado is a cool place for a beer .

We did the night tour of Alcatraz and it was great. We accidentally booked it for a night with a full moon. I have some incredible pics of the full moon reflected in the bay.
We also had a great time doing Muir Woods as a day trip, but I don't know if your schedule is too tight for that.
Chinatown was also fun, be sure to go to the fortune cookie factory.

Kids are all high school or older.

All the touristy spots in the summer are busy with people, so it's like lions getting confused by the herd of zebra's, the bums can't seem to concentrate on individuals to hassle.
If you go anywhere outside of the touristy spots, i'd just uber. I was there recently and walked to my favorite brewery in soma, and it's gotten much more sketchy than it was 5 years ago, i ubered back to hotel. I also walked to the bestbuy from union square, not something i would recommend with a family.

Take the Big Bus tour. get on the bus early in the morning to get a seat on the top. It sucks at the bottom.
DO NOT GET OFF THE BUS!!!!!!! (especially for the golden gate bridge. You will wait 2 hours to get back on.)
Stay on the bus for the whole ride. After the full tour, go explore places that you want to see. Uber to the top of the hill and walk down.

2 days is too much in SF these days.
Downtown SF is a ghost town and absolutely riddled with vagrants. The businesses are still empty.
You can do Chinatown, Wharf and Alcatraz in a day.
I wouldn't stay downtown these days, very different than pre-2020. Was there two weeks ago for a week of work.
I'd honestly skip SF all together or just do a day trip if you are flying into SF.
Downtown SF is a ghost town and absolutely riddled with vagrants. The businesses are still empty.

Alcatraz is a must do. There's only 1 place to get the tickets so make sure you're on the right website and get tickets as soon as possible so you don't miss out.
Ride a cable car. See at least part of Golden Gate Park. We did a segway tour and that was really fun. You're kids may be too young for that. Do Muir Woods and Sausalito. Chinatown is interesting. Just walk around a bit. Watch them make fortune cookies and see the old Chinese men playing games (Mahjong and pai gow?) in Portsmouth Sq. Grab some food there. See the big gate.

Do yourself a favor and ignore this entire garbage post. This man is a business traveler with no vigor or sense of discovery.
Go have a Margarita at Tommy's or eat some dim sum on Geary St., spend a couple of hours in Delores Park. Go to Golden Gate Park. Walk on the GG bridge and take a picture from Marin. Don't bother with the wharf. That's for square-headed dolts. If you do Alcatraz, take the night tour. Much more fun in a creepy way.

You do know there are neighborhoods outside of downtown SF, right?

The best dining area is Fillmore IMO and if you want Asian food, I would check out Richmond and Clement St. Much more of a true neighborhood, local feel than Chinatown.

Just did a day and a half in SF wasn’t as sketchy and bad as I thought it’d be. Little Italy was nice and did Alcatraz

Yes. Pick up some picnic stuff, get a book, and just chill. Views are amazing, park itself is pretty, and the people watching is world class. It’s one of my favorite parts of the city.
