10 Days in Seattle and Vancouver (Canada) - need recommendations

Going to Seattle and Vancouver in October. First time in the PNW. The plan is to fly into Seattle, stay 5 days in Seattle and then take the train up to Vancouver and spend 5 days in Vancouver before flying home from Vancouver.
Looking for recommendations on everything - where to stay (if not specific hotels, specific areas of town to stay in or stay away from), things to do/see while there, places to eat.
As I said, I've never been to the PNW so any info to help a brother out on planning the trip would be appreciated.
As a side note - I don't drink so I don't need to hear about cool breweries or bars to go to.
Any info on taking a train from Seattle to Vancouver (or other ways to get there) and what the travel to and from Canada is like these days (Covid requirements, etc.) appreciated.
Thanks for the input.

Vancouver
We stayed at the Sutton Place Hotel, a nice hotel in an excellent location.
If the weather is nice, walk the waterfront trail in Stanley Park.
Granville Island is worth a visit.
Victoria Island is a ferry ride away. That is a great place to visit. We spent a few days there.

Vancouver
We stayed at the Le Soleil Hotel on Hornsby St. for 3 nights after a cruise. It is an easy walk to the downtown area and about a 1/2 mile walk to the Gastown area.
- Rent a car and drive to Whistler for a day.
- Vancouver is a bike friendly city & there is a place near the hotel that rents them.
- We got a multi day bus pass to get to Stanley Park but only used it once. We took it there & back.
- We didn’t go to Vancouver Island/Victoria but hope to one day. If I was going to be there for 5 days I would definitely go there.

We've been to Seattle around a dozen times in the last 25 years, Vancouver twice.
Can't tell you about the train as we always got a rental car.
In Seattle, ya gotta do the typical tourist things: Space Needle, Pike Place Market, various piers on the waterfront, and Pioneer Square. One visit there we took a sailboat ride on Puget Sound from the waterfront.
After that, some lesser known things to see include Gas Works Park, the Ballard (Hiram Crittenden) Locks, the Fremont Troll, and Kerry Park for the best view of the downtown skyline.
We also enjoyed checking out the University of Washington campus, driving along the western shoreline of Lake Washington, and many of the various other parks (Alki Beach, Interlaken Park, and Discovery Park).
Being that it's October, that means no more Mariners games, which is a shame-- T-Mobile (formerly Safeco) Park is a great stadium to catch baseball.
In Vancouver, both times we stayed at the Granville Island Hotel, which was really nice and on the water. Granville Island itself has some neat things to offer; restaurants, shops, parks (including a great splash/water park for kids). We rented kayaks one afternoon there and paddled all over False Creek.
Definitely need to visit Stanley Park (make sure to see the totem poles, same place where Elvis Costello and the Attractions filmed part of the video for "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love, and Understanding") We also suggest taking the tram up to Grouse Mountain. We did some ziplining up on top of that; it was a BLAST. We also drove out to Lighthouse Park one afternoon.
While there try some Chinese restaurants, they have some good ones in town.

The train ride from Seattle to Vancouver is amazing and highly recommended, 4-5 hours max but very scenic. Seattle station is downtown and the Vancouver station is right next to their subway/rail that can take you into downtown.
Other post mentioned recs in both Seattle and Vancouver, all of those are good. If you are not renting a vehicle I would recommend staying downtown in both cities, will be slightly touristy but very walkable and accessible to everything by rail and ferry. Last, if you are a runner or biker Centennial Park in SEA and Stanley Park in VAN are two of the best places urban places in North America for a bike or run, or walk.

I love this trip, I used to do it every year.
First, make your flights round trip to Seattle, you'll save some $$.
Second, make sure the train is running to Vancouver. It was suspended because of covid and of course didn't come back. It was supposed to return to service in September but not sure if that happened.
If I were to do this trip-
Fly in to SEA
Night or two at one of the Kimptons
Seattle is boring.
Catch the train to Vancouver which has a lot more soul in my book. Stay somewhere in the financial district. The whole city is very walkable. Eat at Vij's, Miku, Octopus Garden. Enjoy Stanley Park the waterfront.
Taxi to suburban Tsawassen, ferry to Swartz Bay. This is a delightful 90 minute ride on a boat with booze and food among the islands. It's one of the best parts. Ride the bus downtown, it's a big coach bus that meets every ferry (not a gross city bus).
Stay somewhere on the harbor for a few nights. Victoria is wonderful. Have a lot of oysters at 10 Acres Commons.
Board the Clipper to Port Angeles, WA. It's two hours and another nice ride to have a few beers provided the straits aren't rough.
Overnight in PA and ride the bus back to Seattle. The Seattle bus kinda sucks, it's like an airport shuttle bus, but the scenery is great.

Museum of Flight. You could easily spend a day there.

Went to Seattle for the first time recently and loved it. Didn’t go to Vancouver but did take the ferry out to Victoria which was beautiful. Did a tour thing of Butchart Gardens (amazing).
One thing in Seattle I really enjoyed was the museum of pop culture and chihuly glass , both right next to space needle and were cooler in my opinion.

Y'all should rent a car after the Seattle leg and drive up to Anacortes to the Ferry's and go island hoping in the San Juans. Friday Harbor, Orcas, Lopez, Vancouver and Victoria are all amazing. Not sure what it's like in October though. Could be pretty chilly.

I agree with this and I also enjoyed Stanley Park in Vancouver. Oh, almost forgot, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park was nice.

Been a while, but Buchart Gardens is amazing every time I went.
If you take the ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles, you could spend an afternoon in Port Townsend and you won't be disappointed...
