I have been a loyal android customer since the s4, but i am tempted to switch back to my first iphone since the iphone 3gs. Am i crazy for doing this or should I just get the s24?

What do you need your phone to do, outside of calls, texts, apps, and web browsing?

Why do you want to change?

If there's something you see that iOS does that Android doesn't then sure, make the change.

Sometimes, people spend a lot of money for something that they think is going to be a big deal, and then it turns out that in real world use - it's not.

(Penny wise, but pound foolish.)

An example would be upgrading WiFi from 6 to 7. Yes, 7 is better. But for most people 6 is already capable of delivering more than adequate performance.

Frequently, there are cheaper solutions to a problem than buying an entirely new phone.

As someone with an older iphone, I am occasionally tempted to buy a new phone, but my current phone does everything I need and it's stable as a rock. Changing it out (even for a newer iphone) just doesn't seem like a very good use of money.

I find this pattern of behavior very common in the audiophile market. People will spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on some gadget or accessory that supposedly increases the quality of music, but the truth is more often than not, it doesn't. It's confirmation bias.

That being said, if you want to buy a new phone, then don't let me stop you. Just remember that it's still just a tool. If your current phone/platform does what you need, then keep it. Instead, maybe buy something that will improve the quality of your life in a more meaningful way. (Better chair, shoes, mattress, comfortable headphones, etc.)

You couldn't pay me to use an iPhone as my daily driver. So yeah, you're a fool if you switch.

I don't think it's worth it. I have a pixel and my wife an iPhone. If I have to use hers I get annoyed very easily as the apps are in a weird order among other things.

That’s 100% customizable. If they are in a weird order, that’s simply due to your wife not organizing them

I used to have apple then switched to Android. I have been running the pixel line since the first version, due to having to return my note 7, you know the fire phone, lol

My wife has Apple, honestly there is nothing I like about it over my android.

Apple feels like a phone my grandma and mom use because of the simplicity. If feels dumbed down to me

Android gives you more freedom over your device, I have gotten to where I despise Samsung as well. Still would take it over Apple though

I just switched back to Android after being on Apple the last two years. The S24 Ultra is an awesome phone and better than anything Apple has including the new 16 series. Apple pretty much makes their users use their phones like they want them to. If you like freedom and customization stay with Android, if you like locked ecosystems get an iPhone. Both ecosystems are seamless with its other devices that argument is kinda moot now. But do what makes you happy its just a phone sometimes a switch can feel refreshing and can feel the same way when switching back. That's how it was for me when I first swapped to Apple I was like ah this is cool, iMessage and all that but it quickly became very stale. Then the 15 came out and very incremental update, swapped to the S24 Ultra and was loving life again. It's so much more versatile and customizeable especially for productivity at work.

I've had and really enjoy both.

The most important thing to me is screen/phone size.

The current iPhone is too small, but the max/plus is too big.

I'm currently using a pixel 8 pro that is just a touch larger than I'd prefer.

Something 6.4 or 6.5 inches would be perfect.

Literally just switched from S21 to Iphone 16 Pro on Friday. I don't do much customizing on my phones anymore and only needed something functional for calls/texts/emails. Other than the initial pain that comes along with apple account, so far so good. Main reason to switch was all of my family and friends use iphones and wanted better videos via text messaging since going between platforms sucks balls.

I wish there was some type of option to test drive a new phone for a couple of weeks. I've had an iphone for over 10 years but have always felt like I would enjoy an Android phone more.

It is just a huge commitment to make and am worried that if I don't like it, I will have to wait a couple of years before switching back.

It is RCS is live, some people don't know what it is. Hell I have people on Android that still haven't enabled it in their Samsung messages app. They're just naive to it

To be honest, you're gonna get a lot of iPhone hate by asking a tech forum. Not that it's totally unjustified, but if you just want to use your phone as a phone, Apple really excels at a simple and straightforward user experience.

Pretty much but I already made up my mind earlier this year that I was going to switch. Even if i would've stayed on Android, I used Textra for messaging which you can't do RCS so I would have had to switch back to messages. Been on android since the S5, figured it was time to see the other side. May regret it, only time will tell.

You will probably like it at first, but then you're going to regret it about 6 to 8 months later. When shite's just not there that you're used to

No you would not. Both have different users. Both are excellent. There are haters on both sides. I use both brands for work/personal.

Get what you want, enjoy it, ignore the haters.
