So I finally unpacked it last night and immediately had to download an APP to use my new coffee mug.
then i went to pair it and it told me i had to update my mug firmware first.
jesus.
anyway, gave it a trial run today and found the battery crapped out after about an hour. WTF. i thought the point was to eliminate having a heating pad on my desk (i have one of those cheap plastic hot pads you set your mug on to keep it warm) but i would expect a bit more from the battery. at least 6 hours so i can pour a few mugs and not have to have the charger on my desk (i put it in the kitchen next to the coffeemaker.
also it tells you when its empty but i thought it was also able to tell you how full your mug was.
i am afraid to look up what she paid for this thing but not sure i'm ready to require an app for my morning coffee.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand my coffee is officially ice cold.
i threw it on the charger for about 5 minutes earlier when i went to the bathroom and refilled it. kept it warm for about 20 minutes and now i just picked it up and its ice cold.
2 hours to charge; charge only last 1 hour. thats not how this is supposed to work.
idea > execution here. if i have to keep the heating pad on my desk this is no better than the $2 goodwill heating pad i already have.

My daughter bought me one last year. I don't use it for coffee but I do drink tea out of it. It works ok.

I guess I'm not really understanding why you need a heating pad for a cup of coffee anyway? Just drink the cup of coffee. Or put it in a yeti/knockoff yeti style tumbler.

covid.
i sit at my damn desk all day at home and i'm a cheap bastard and keep the heat on 62 so a cup of coffee turns to ice within 20 minutes.
i dont like yeti tumblers unless i'm in my car. i just want my porcelain coffee mug to stay warm forever.

Just personal preference, but even if it worked well I can't imagine having to charge up my coffee mug. Man, not everything has to be "smart".

just saw the price

so the drill here is i have to hang onto this thing for a couple weeks go give it a 'good try' and then the wife will let me take it back to costco without too much fussing.

So you drink 1 cup of coffee throughout the entire day?

Why not just use a vacuum sealed mug?

a cup of coffee turns ice cold within 20-30 minutes and sometimes i get wrapped up on a call or in the zone doing database or spreadsheety thingies and when i get back to the coffee its cold, hence the $2 goodwill coffee warmer.

You need one of those $9 knock off Yeti cups from Wal-mart.

Hell, my 10 year old tervis tumblers with the lids do a fine job of keeping my coffee warm for a few hours, and those have my favorite teams on them.
This feels wholly unnecessary when it works and a pain in the arse when it "kinda works".

VERDICT IS IN! This is a complete PoS.
It went 'green' overnight (should mean full charge) but then refused to heat my coffee at all yesterday, unpaired at some point with my phone and when i couldn't repair it i "rebooted the mug"
and it showed the battery at 0%. i'm DONE.
Here's what I would expect (and I dont think this is unreasonable):
- Price point $50 (not $130+tax)
- Battery life 2-3 days (@ 2 hours of 134 degree heat per day; aka 5-6 total hours of use time)
- Charging in 1 hour (not 3)
- 2 cent WiFi chip and not this ghetto bluetooth shite so the mug 'forgets what the hell its doing' if i walk away from my phone with my cup of coffee and then it struggles to reconnect.
Even if all those points were met; $50 is still pretty steep for a mug that keeps your coffee warm considering i have a 50 year old thermos from my pappy that does a better job and you can buy $10 amazon mr. coffee mug warmers.
TL;DR this is stupid as frick and expensive as hell.
