Got a new iPhone a couple weeks ago and the data upgrade to 5g is terrible.

No faster speeds than before.

Data seems to have short term drops quite often. Email and web are ok, but streaming pauses and stops over and over and over.

Are others experiencing this or just me?

Example walked the dog around the neighborhood at the start of the lsu Florida baseball game.

Old iPhone 8 and 4g was great. Would stream without issues. New iPhone 13 and 5g and it buffers and lags about every 2-3 minutes. Plus pic quality keeps degrading.

Same here. Something is going on. Don’t think this tech was quite ready for rollout.

Did you get a 4th booster shot? 5g only works well if you’re current…

Only Kidding… I have a 4G iPhone with Spectrum (Verizon Infrastructure) and have noticed the same thing lately. It may just be coincidence that it started after your upgrade.

I’ve been having horrible reception with Verizon in several places lately. Uptown, Northshore… not normal and not acceptable.

I switched to ATT and it’s better. Not much but better.

Switched to Google Fi after same problem. Uses T Mobile towers here I think. Been much better.

Did that from a post in the other thread and it’s amazing. Much better.

same. 4G loads pages and images and video just fine.

5G.. Even full bars.. Hangs, lags, never loads.. All kinds of crap.

Turn off 5G on phone and I'm back in business again

The advertising is so disingenuous. Yeah, T-mobile may have 5g coverage in my area, but it's only enough to support about 150 devices at a time across the entire South Bend region.

Assholes.

I went to a wedding in Covington last weekend. When I was near the interstate I had 5G uw and did a speed test and had 365GB down on my Verizon iPhone 12 Max

Have you tried the OpenSignal App to see what’s the best signal in your area and the nearest tower?

I stream 4k directly on cellular data all the time. No buffering.

T-Mobile is the only carrier with somewhat consistent 5G coverage right now. The others are about a year or two behind because they only recently obtained rights to the kind of spectrum 5G works best on.

Must be the area, because I've noticed this as well.
