quote:I cannot say. I do not like what Samsung does to Android, so I stick with Pixels. Pretty sure the actual phones Samsung builds are top notch.
Is google better than Samsung?

Pixels have a nice smooth, clean version of Android. Samsung has better battery life and possibly better reception. Google makes it super easy to remove their OS and use a custom ROM.

Google has much better software. Samsung hardware better although Google is trying to close the gap.
Samsung has better battery and chip.

As far as I know, Pixel phones are the only Android phones with Google's automatic call screening. That's become an essential feature for me.

Yup. Surprised Samsung hasn't copied it.

For some reason the August update for my 6 pro improved the battery life by alot. I also recently did a factory reset which maybe helped.

usually the following:
- all data files/downloads (pictures, videos, files, etc.)
- All logins (have to re-login to all apps)
- All settings
You can usually re-apply most of the settings during the setup process after the reset but I feel like there are always a few settings that you still have to redo once the phone is setup again.
It fully wipes all data from the phone and then applies a clean factory image from the recovery partition. So you end up with a brand new phone after and you have to go through setup process just like a brand new phone. But doing a backup just before resetting and then applying that backup during the setup process (all apps, settings, etc.) will help save time.

Thanks. My battery life is not bad enough for me to go through that with an old phone.

Then, what you're left with is a less reliable, more complicated platform.
iPhoners love to say this. But the platform is not complicated. Just because you are used to iOS doesn't mean Android is complicated. Android users would say the same about iOS, for instance how unintuitive it is to go backwards in a iPhone v Android. The reliability thing is garbage too. Even this forum is riddled with threads about iPhone issues. A certain percentage of all users will run into issues with their respective devices
simply bc no one bats 1000. Anecdotally, I've never had a reliability issue with Pixel or Samsung.

Correct. I am this way when I use my wife's phone.

Just curious as to why you say:
Well, not as much curious as to just pointing out that you also let your biases show in this statement.

It should be clear from my last sentence that I am an Android user, not trying to hide any bias. But I also wasn't making a statement for or against either device. Just pointing out users of either OS would find the other OS "complicated" if handed the opposite device. But that doesn't actually make either device "complicated".

iOS is a more simplified system to use. I don't see how that's even debatable. Even android fansites have articles claiming one of the things iOS gets right is that it's less complicated to use than android.
iphone vs android article
One of the things that android users tend to like about the platform is that it's open. While that's good to some people, it's not to others. Not everyone wants a toy. Some people just want a utilitarian appliance.

I don't think it's biased to say ios has an unintuitive setup for going back. For example, some apps have a back arrow in the top corner, others you can swipe from the side. There are many other quirks when it comes to iOS and the back gesture.
This is pretty well documented and if you use both OSs (as I do) you would quickly understand what he was referencing

getting my 9 pro XL in next week, my 7 pro is going strong still but I feel like $540 trade-in value through google is as good as I'm gonna get value wise, so why not upgrade now.
i was thisclose to getting that Fold, though.
