There have already been 100inch TVs.

and samsung and sony have gotten complacent thinking charging double or triple for the same panels will work as a business model because of brand recognition.

Next thing you know Hisense and TCL have caught up and are able to sell same tech for half the price.

I am so happy with my 65" TCL mini-LED 6-series. The sound is so good that I am not even using my sound bar ATM.

You must have a really shitty soundbar.

Yeah, but how is off-axis viewing? OLED is the king of viewing from the side.

Wow this thread blew up!

Any mention of the cost of a 75” one at the Costcos or Sams or when they will become available?

They're $1,400 at best buy, which seems like a pretty sweet deal for a TV of that size and quality.

Anyone in this thread who got the 6 series having sound problems? Seems like every few days something janky with the sound happens. If I unplug and plug it back in it usually fixes it. But I’m not liking that solution long term.

I've had my 65" 6 series for a while now. The sound issue is irritating. I have a soundbar with subwoofer and rear speakers hooked up to it. No matter what i do, i always have to go to my antenna channels first. When i do that, it's like it recognizes the soundbar and then i can go to whatever app i want. If I'm in netflix, and hit the home button and go to Plex, sometimes the sound won't work, sometimes it will, and then i get out of plex, just go to the antenna channels, and wait to hear the sound, and then i can go back to plex. Really weird.

damn that happened fast. i didn't think we'd see a bigger 8K rollout at the non-hobbyist level for another 2-3 years.

now that netflix is pushing 4K dolby vision content out to the masses for almost all their new stuff and you can pick up a pretty nice ATMOS soundbar system for as little as $500, what are your thoughts on the latest state-of-the-art?

are $500 atmos soundbards & wireless sub/satellites the nail in the coffin for the old school AVR setup? i know i'd rather spend $500 - $1000 on an atmos soundbar setup i can move to the backup TV room when something better comes along rather than throw away yet another AVR because it lacked features that change every 2 years.

i think AVRs are dinosaurs now. they simply cant keep up with how fast things are changing (HD, 4K, 8K, HDR, HDMI 2.1, VISION, ATMOS...) and i was the idiot who upgraded 3x before jumping off the wagon.

"out of the box" atmos soundbar plug-and-play solutions are going to be the standard moving forward. AVR and perma-mounted surround setups are going to rapidly become too clumsy adn expensive to keep up with the changes.

Yeah I have the $399-499 ranged Vizio 5.1.2 Atmos soundbar and it's been great. They've gotten so good for the money and no hassle I wouldn't do a full expensive avr setup, but that's me.

Maybe on a sale in 6 months.

While like true it will be mainly due to cost. I mean let's be honest, the masses really don't care about good sound.

It sure won't be due to a superior experience.

depends on your definition of "superior experience".

Plug and play atmos that can be connected to a tv, calibrated and sounding really good in 20 minutes vs the hassle of trying to string up speakers, purchase and configure and string up an avr and hope you know what you're doing to get atmos out and unless you bring vabuckeye over you'll never get dialed in.

Yeah avrs are as dead as cd players and tuners. They just don't know it yet. They can't compete with the innovation, cost and ease of use of soundbars.

Very true. It's all relative. Most people have never heard a really great sounding home theater.

soundbars outsell AVR getups 1000:1 so that's where all the innovation and technology R&D is focused.

Soundbar setups will surpass AvR sound quality eventually as integrated wireless setups that can be calibrated through software leave those "big box" installs in the dust.

The writing is on the wall.

The speakers will never be as good in a soundbar as a real AVR setup.

People pay upwards of $1000/speaker on top of the AVR. You are not getting that quality of a speaker in a soundbar.
