I registered just so I could call out the users on this forum who recommended Swappa for buying used phones.

Naively I followed your advice. Spent about 10% more than I would have on eBay auctions to buy from Swappa due to your rec and Swappas supposed guarantee money back

Got the phone. Piece of junk didn’t work out the box. Contacted seller. Seller accused me of breaking it. Contacted Swappa who did nothing! Said if you have a problem contact PayPal or your credit card.

I’ve spent over 3 hours dealing with PayPal and the issue is still in question. $500 down the drain potentially.

Let me tell anyone considering buying or selling on Swappa. Don’t do it. You may be ok but there’s a decent chance you will get ripped off and you’ll end up wasting a lot of time and may never recoup your money.

Sellers are in precarious spot too. All someone has to do is say they received an empty package and you are out your phone

Just say no to Swappa

I’ve bought hundreds of things from eBay without any problems. The few times I’ve had to return an item were a breeze

First and only purchase form swappa was a nightmare. You’re probably one who recommended that scam site

Then stick to Ebay, smart guy.

Here's another recommendation. Eat a dick

There was a thread on here recently how someone got screwed from a buyer. Do your research, you cant blame this board if there has also been warnings about swappa

Don’t worry
eBay it is for me
I’m trying to help out others who might be considering buying or selling on Swappa
Yeah you might have a good experience there
But if anything goes wrong Swappa takes no responsibility and you are left to deal with it yourself

There is ZERO protection for buyer or seller if you deal with someone who is without scruples

Then make a post about your bad experience as a warning to others. Don't "call out" posters who recommended a site they've had good experiences with after you asked them for a recommendation.

So you’re blaming Tech board for your decision to use swappa and buy a broken phone.... seems fair, snowflake.

Did the seller have any rating? How many transactions had they completed? Do you research sellers on eBay?

I've bought 4 phones off swappa with great success, including a return. I won't buy from a 1st time seller, or anyone really that doesn't look like they sell on there regularly.

Had about 10 ratings and transactions. All positive.

For those planning on using Swappa just hope nothing goes wrong because if it does they don’t care and dealing with PayPal who has no idea why you’re calling on behalf of a problem on swappa is a nightmare.

This is just silly... Paypal is always going to be the entity responsible for the success/failure of the transaction... whether you're talking Ebay, Swappa, or otherwise...

For someone who has as much claimed success on ebay as yourself, it would seem that you may just not know how to manage a dispute process... that process is independent of the platform you purchased through: LINK

This must be some poor person trend that I'm not aware of.

I buy all my phones from the Apple store, and they all work great.

Sounds like you broke this guy's phone. Good thing he already got paid for it.

Are y'all trying to tell me that buying used electronics from a stranger on the internet has some risks to it?

Color me shocked.

Swappa says completely guaranteed and safe

In the age of amazon we’ve gotten used to easy returns and easy money back

I’m still jumping through hoops to get my money back

Like I said you might get lucky by using Swappa and the seller or buyer is honest

But if there are any hiccups, have fun going through the machinery to get your money back
