I'm about 2.5 years into my Pixel 8 Pro. No huge problems, but seems to be slowly tailing off. I usually like to get 3+ years out of a phone.

I bought the 10 Pro last year and have that in a drawer.

The 11 just came out, but I think I've seen some complaining on here about the new chip or something?

Question: Should I just unbox the 10 or should I go for the new 11?

TIA

Is this a flex post? Why would you not use the 10 you already have (and haven't used for some reason)? The 11 is fine, but unless you like lighting money on fire, stick with the 10.

The "reason" is I never want to be stranded phoneless if a phone dies, so I have taken to buying the next version 2 seasons out from the one I have presently. I've been lucky not only to not have one really die, but also to get 3 (almost 4 with my 2) years out of the models along the way.

So, by that plan, I bought the 10 last year - so I would have it. But I haven't needed it, such that the 11 is already out.

This isn't really helping me and I'm not asking for financial advice. I'm purely asking from technical/practical standpoint of the devices themselves: is the 10 superior to the 11, or have they screwed up with the 11 and thus I should avoid it?

TIA

Why not switch to the 10 and keep the 8 as a backup?

Well, in general, I hate switching to begin with so I like to prolong it as much as possible.

But the question remains: is the 11 a better device/equal device to the 10 or not?

From what I understand, there is little difference between the 10 and 11.

You have to let the Pixel phones age like a fine wine. In another year the 10 will be just as fast as the 11. Let it sit in the drawer til 2027 at least.

Not to hijack this thread, but I have a similar question. I currently have a Pixel 9 and I eligible for a free upgrade and a Pixel 11 through TMO. Is it worth the hassle of learning how to use a new phone.

But seriously. Any reason to prefer a 10 to an 11? I could have sworn I saw some negative commentary on here awhile back about Google making some big mistake with the new processor or whatever. I am not a power user, so I don't pay attention to stuff like this. No gaming or anything like that.

I had a Pixel 8 Pro as well. When I saw the underwhelming specs for the Pixel 11, I was going to wait another year. However when the Z Fold 8 came out a couple months ago, I switched to that.

In your situation, I'd just use the Pixel 10 and skip the 11.

Thank you.

Can you say more about the specs? Is it that there just isn't any improvement or is there actual backsliding?

You can get the 16 gb of Ram with the 11 BUT you also have to get it with 512 gb of storage. Really pushes the price up.

Go with the 10.

Price agnostic, what would your recommendation be? Is the only thing you're really losing some future consideration of Google dropping updates for the 10 sooner than the 11?

I can't justify the price if you have a 10.

Now Google does have a great Black Friday sale for them. Discount and great trade ins. If you pull the trigger, that's when.

Price agnostic, go with the Pixel 11 over the Pixel 10. It is very slightly better in almost every aspect. The Pixel 11 has overall slightly better cellular reception and download speeds (22% faster), and holds a 5G signal slightly better. It is slightly better in speed pulling up apps, changing web pages, etc. It has slightly improved voice to text software, is slightly lighter, slightly larger battery, better built-in software for digital creators (although apps can match the improvements). There are a lot of slight improvements that most people won't really notice enough to make a difference.

If you want or need the best hardware for gaming, camera, etc, go with another brand. The Pixel 10 and 11 are both great phones, and for the way most people use their phones the improvements seem insignificant.

We live basically in in a forest of primarily very tall white oaks. Cellular reception is the most important aspect for us so I prefer the Pixel 11 for its very slight improvement in cellular reception.

That's all I got, other than go watch some of the YouTube videos comparing the two.

I don't recall the specifics. I just remember all the reviews saying it was not a significant upgrade over the 10. And I didn't think the 10 was worth upgrading over the 8P.

The chip is somewhat of an upgrade but compared to other flagships, it's behind.

The AI is more powerful.

There are two versions: 12 and 16 gb RAM. That's where most of the dustup is.

They replaced the Samsung modem with one made by Mediatekk. Supposed to be better.

But honestly, there is little difference between the two phones the average person will notice.
