My 6 yr old Toshiba has done its job but its time for something new. Is there anything a regular laptop can do that the Surface can’t? I save everything on OneDrive so I don’t need a large amount of storage. Programs I use are mainly Office or web based. I am getting the 8 GB RAM because I do need to run Photoshop. I really like the portability of it and that I can easily fit it into my bag to take with me. Anything else I’m missing that would make this not the right choice for my needs?

Do you work any with your computer in your lap? If so, a laptop might be a better choice. The type cover isnt very lap friendly. There may be some harder 3rd party keyboards though for the SP, not sure.

I have a work surface pro. Wish it was the surface laptop 2. Surface Pro is fine for tabletop work but it is ungainly sitting on your legs

I have one that I carry around with me all the time. I agree that it’s not great in your lap, but really it’s very serviceable. For my work purposes, I am an attorney, I have never owned a better laptop. It’s amazing. If you don’t get it you should get the laptop from Microsoft, I believe it is called the surface laptop 2.

I have always had Macs until this one and I am pleasantly surprised at its functionality.

got the costco surface 6 bundle at costco for my daughter and she loves the thing.

went ahead & bought the full version of that drawing and painting app (leondaro maybe?) and she uses it every single day.

I have a first gen surface laptop I use for my secondary laptop. It's a great device.

As a posted above said, if you work with your device on your lap, get the laptop. And be sure to get 16GB of RAM, the 8GB can get slow at times.

I've had 1,2 and the tablets...Its definitely a sleeker laptop versus a nice tablet

Surface Book is the GOAT non-gaming laptop. For real. I've owned almost every type of laptop/related device (Apple and Microsoft) and the Surface Book is the winner.

i really like the SB2 i just got a lil while back. i don't even use the tablet aspect much, either. i went with SB2 over the surface laptop because (1) there was one available on FB marketplace for a steal and (2) it has USB-A and USB-C (While the surface laptop only had c)

I am a white collar slave in finance - the Surface Pro is very functional. Great in board rooms when needing to crunch out answers to on the fly questions. Supports excel well and no problem with any OOB financial software.

It sucks trying to use it at the airport on your lap. Never found a good case / cover for travel. The machine is fragile so take precautions with air travel.
