I am on dtv now with the initial $35 deal and free HBO. It is ok. We use an Amazon fire box and there are still times when it buffers constantly, or channels drop off the guide. I don't believe it is an internet issue because I've never had a problem with any other streaming app.
Until January we had Vue. It was extremely reliable but I personally hated the interface. Seemed difficult to navigate for me.
We left Vue because they lost Viacom channels. We have young kids so Nick Jr is one of the main channels we watch.
All in all, if Vue got Nick Jr back we would switch back immediately. Seemed much more reliable and I'm still amazed that dtv now still doesn't have a Roku app. We have 2 tvs with Roku boxes.

I've had Vue since April of last year and it was the best decision I made. I tried out DTVnow, but I didn't like it as much. The DVR function for Vue is awesome. People will say you don't need DVR if you have Kodi, but I use the shite out of my DVR for sports.

I've had DTV since the beginning and it has improved leaps and bounds. We haven't had any service problems in a while. Also like that I can stream it data free on my phone since I'm an AT&T customer.
Downside: still no DVR. That needs to be coming this year.

Direct Tv Now is terrible on the fire stick. The fire tv, apple tv or app it works great.

Playstation Vue seems to be the deal to beat. Especially if you own a PS4. Talk about an all-in-one media hub.

To the last responses about devices. I bought the Directv Now Apple TV when you got that deal for 3 months. I plan to use that unless my TV comes out with an app built in.
Love the fact I have built in apps as I can directly view 4K content from Amazon and Netflix.

Just got fire TV hooked up this past weekend. Vue is outstanding.

DTVNow just added 72 Hour rewind back. They removed it early on to get stability under control. It looks like they are fleshing it out still, but this morning it was back. So the good news there is they are still actively and aggressively working on it.

I've had Vue for 2 months and I love it. Very reliable and has all the features I needed.

I started with Sling, went to Vue, and just recently went back to Sling. I don't want anything to do with AT&shite ever again, so I will never get DTVNow.
The interface has improved greatly with Sling, which is why I had switched to Vue when it came out. I don't know if i'm just seeing things, but the picture quality seems better with Sling than with Vue on my androidtv, especially for sports.
I just have the fox lineup, and I really only want cable for sports. I use my dads log in for WatchESPN and Disney JR, and I like that Sling has Nick Jr. I've got everything I need, and so do the kids.
The ondemand stuff is nice and all, but with Kodi I really don't care about that.

I don't use Kodi. DVR is important, how's Sling doing with that? I thought I read you have to use Roku or a Fire stick/TV to get their beta on this?

I have DRTV now becasue I got in on the atv4 deal and kept it going. I run it on a atv4 and its 100% perfect. As for no DVR i use the DRTVnow credentials for the channel apps and watch my shows that way. If not there I can use kodi that i have on a fire tv...not as easy but mostly possible. For the local stuff I dont feel like trying on kodi I got a antenna and a tablo box. I get 9 ota HD channels abc nbc cbs the cw so on. I can use the tablo for DVR of sports and news that are ota (or shows if I really want). Since I have at&t I can stream some for free. I am still rolling it out and leaning it so ill soon cut my regular DRTV. One thing I hate....lack of 5.1 sound now
Not sure if this is where i'll settle but its what im doing now.

Did they finally get an AMC login?

Not yet... I need that and Nick Jr.. then I'd be set.

By DVR I assume you mean being able to watch shows after they air, not rewind and all, and i'm using a firetv and an androidtv. Have Rokus but don't watch Sling on them, since they are for the kiddos.
They both have good on demand content, really depends what channels you watch outside of locals on which one you would deem better. Vue doesn't have the history channel, sling does.
In Baton Rouge, Vue has the CBS local in their lineup, which means you get access to CBS shows, which you have to pay for with the CBS app. ABC, FOX, NBC and CW apps are free. Don't get CBS with Sling.

Has DTVN's VOD gotten any better?
Posted on 4/13/17 at 12:14 pm to t00f
I took a long look at switching to a streaming service, but each has their issues....
Ps vue doesn't have Viacom (big deal for my wife). Apparently their Roku app sucks. No lakers or dodgers network
DIRECTV no dvr. No roku app. No lakers or dodgers.
I have 3 tvs, and don't feel like needing to replace all three of my otherwise great Roku 3s.

Luckily we don't need the Viacom stations either way and plan to use an Apple TV v4.
Sony Vue seems to be a better deal as long as I don't want HBO. Problem is I do want HBO LOL.
