I went to HTC One M8 two years ago. It started out good and I do like the Google interface. However, the last 6 months has been terrible. The battery is terrible, the response is slow, and I'm fed up.
I'm going back to Apple.
I'm going back to Apple.

They're actually pretty comparable OSes and I've never gotten why some people get any personal satisfaction out of choosing one over the other. You bought the phone you like better, good for you, nobody else really cares.
There are about a million blogs and articles and websites devoted to the dispute between Android and iOS, so I don't think this is true.
A lot of it is bullshite, a lot of it is derived from people who have legitimate preferences. Within the latter category are some objective areas where one is probably genuinely superior to the other.

I think it's cool how iOS upgrades by number i.e. iOS 10
Android is like:
Snapdragon
SnapBack
Gingerbread man
Lollipop
Lolligag
Fire pit
Peach Snapple
Diet peach Snapple
Orange soda
Sugar water purple
I have no idea what they even mean

Android just uses cool names along with the number, they have always also used a number my man.
Nougat is Android 7.0 and just came out.
Not that hard bruh.

Huh? explain please...
What's the need? What does it actually do? Why is Apple moving away from it now? Androids come with one or more soft buttons at the bottom with set functions (e.g. home, back, and past apps).
I call the button on the iphone the "bail out" button - since once you are inside apps, it's so entirely unintuitive how to navigate, that you are forced to bail out and start from the get go. Terrible.

Android gives you unlimited flexibility in customization, but a lot of people don't want or need that

My mom / sibling won't download an app to video chat and just use FaceTime. Also the iPhoto share
I think that's the only reason I have an iPhone
This is the only reason I have a 5s. Ive been android since I first purchased a smartphone (outside of a BB Tour) but my last phone I started to have some minor issues with and my GF had an iPhone. She wanted to be able to facetime and bc I'm not completely close-minded to different types of tech I bought a used 5s.
There was a learning curve, and to this day I get frustrated over not being able to do things I could do with my android (why the hell can't my phone go directly to vibrate on a volume switch??). If there was a way to video chat with her easily I would switch back for the Pixel, but until then I'm stuck in orchard land.

yet anytime a feature that has been on android for years gets implemented on the iphone, those people that dont want or need that customization fawn over it. "OMG look at this notification bar!!!!"

Up to and including different screen sizes. For years, we were told it didn't matter. Then phablets were criticized as being stupid. Fast forward to the 6 and 6+ and the Apple sheep were pissing themselves like scared hamsters in their mad rush to get bigger screens.
Ditto Siri. I had been using Google voice commands for YEARS and with better results by the time Siri was released. That didn't stop the hamster stampede.

Well, that was easy.

if you're on Macs an iPhone is a no brainer.
We can go back and forth all day, they're really not THAT much different, unless the customization stuff is a must for you.
I had a Roku then added an AppleTV. Then I switched from a PC to a Mac laptop for the use of the Airplay feature and just in general how well the Mac performs. So part of me thinks I may as well make the switch to enjoy the benefits of the entire ecosystem.
The only thing holding me back thus far is I love having Project Fi for my wife and I, our monthly bills are so cheap.
