Is the iPhone 16 Pro a big enough leap to upgrade my 13 Pro?

My battery health on my 13 Pro is 79% and I typically have to charge at some point during the day to make it to the end of the day. I use my phone as the key to everything - wallet, ID, payments, home/car keys, travel docs, etc so the lack of battery is a little concerning.

A new battery for the 13 Pro is $120 and I would be good another few years I assume.

Or ATT is offering a "free" 16 Pro if I keep it 3 years (it is what I did with this 13 Pro). Keeping it 36 months is no issue, I usually keep a phone 3-4 years anyway.

So is the upgrade to 16 Pro that big of a jump to take the free upgrade or do I pay $120 and stick it out a couple more years until there is maybe bigger benefit to upgrade phones?

Not for me but the zoom you get with that 48mp camera is pretty cool. A friend had one at the Paul/tyson fight and you could zoom in across Jerry world.

Then take advantage of the upgrade. I did a couple of promo trade ins at T-Mobile. I think I had the X or Xr iPhone and upgraded to the 14 plus. The catch was the time period like you mentioned. The promo was done via bill credits for 24 months. I paid the balance on the phone at the start and let them do the credits for 2 years. Did something similar on an apple watch trade in.

Like you I tend to keep a phone at least 3 years, and then watch for trade in deals and that is when I upgrade.

Tech wise, no, it's not a big upgrade. And Apple AI is lightyears behind everyone else.

17 is out in late September. Might as well wait. Will have better battery life and internal cooling fins.

I guess the risk is that ATT won’t be giving me a ~$850 trade value on my 13 Pro once the 17 comes out, like they are in this promo for the 16 Pro

I don't know man. I didn't think the 16 pro was a big enough upgrade from the 11 pro max.

My battery health is still 85% BTW on the original battery. I don't know what you guys do with your phones that you're killing your battery that fast.

It makes more sense to me to only buy a new phone when it can do something that your current phone can't.

Not positive, but I think those offers typically drop a $100 per year. So you'd be looking at $750.00 instead of $850.00

If it's free, question should be not why but why not. Verizon is running a similar deal. I assume they're cleaning out 16 stock for 17 later this year.

Iphones have been the same since the iPhone 5..

Except for the few things they copy from android here and there.

Ridiculous, even you're just trying to be funny.
Both android and iPhone are reaching max innovation upgrades anyway.

How long does the battery in your 5 last?
Memory storage
How sharp and functional is the camera?

severe wrecks auto 911 notifications etc.

Satellite SOS and texting

And as always & most of all, no data mining of the poor by Google

Except every single app you install on any phone data mines the shite out of you.

I'd say you need a min of 4 generations to see any noticable difference. I have a pixel 8 pro and don't see any need to upgrade in the next two years
