until 2021..I bought a new 4k last year and got one game a week, at most.

this year, i doubt anything will be in 4k. There isnt one
event yet that is to be telecast in 4k..

Although i am glad we get cfb, the lack of 4k is dissapointing.

4K may never come via major broadcast companies (cox, comcast, ATT, ect). If it does it will be compressed to crap anyway.
Only way I've found any 4K content is via streaming services.

well, i am truly dissapointed in the offering of 4k, regardless of the current landscape.

When it comes to sports, i believe we all have been oversold on 4k.

i had a perfectly fine 1080p led so im just disgusted.

I feel like this is fairly common knowledge.... There is no 4k through cable providers and barely any with satellite

I'll add on to this thread, but want to make sure you're all sitting down first.

It's about 8k content and those expensive 8k TVs....

This is all no different than when 1080p came out.

Well that is a negative outlook considering sports never made it to 1080p.

What if I told you that all sports are broadcast in 720p... and there are no plans to upgrade at this time.

Some channels do 1080i, which means you only get half of the detail of a given frame. 720p better for sports at this time.

i would say, if so, those 4k games i actually did get were tremendously clearer than anything in 720p or 1080..so something has to give.

You watched a broadcast sporting event that was in 4k? Which one(s)? It appears that the NFL was airing some in 4k last year.

And what do you mean by "something has to give?"

The major sports all show limited weekly games in 4K. MLB NBA have a game of the week that's always 4K, NFL has done multiple and the super bowl etc.

Also don't forget ASC 3.0 is about to launch, bringing 4K OTA TV. That's the big one for broadcast TV.

That's way more 4k content than I thought was out there. I've been thinking about upgrading my main set, and early fall or the holidays may be the right time to do it

The 4k NFL games fox did last season, compressed as they may have been, looked tremendous compared to the regular hd content. The MLB games they did didn’t look that great tho.

I know that FuboTV occasionally does broadcasts in compressed 4K.

Weren’t OTA tuners supposed to upgrade their signal to 4K soon?

Yeah I think that’s what ultimatehog is referencing with asc 3.0. However I think it’s supposed to just be in limited cities in the next year.

Super Bowl was absolutely beautiful in 4K HDR.

Those 4k sporting events last year were shot in 1080p HDR and upscaled to 4k.

Better than 720p for sure but still not real 4k.

I bought a 4K UHD Samsung back in May. Came preloaded with several streaming apps. Didn't realize how much was 4k on Disney Plus. I haven't really checked with Netflix or Prime, but I'm hoping some of the sports streaming services will run with it in the future. I don't care if Cable/SAT does it, as I cut that cord a long time ago. Anyone know if Sling does 4K? I usually subscribe to the package with sports during FB season.
