backfires? not quite. just goes to show how many luddites are still out there. you can type 100x faster using swipe than anyone trying to tap out individual characters.

No you can't. That's horseshite. I type way faster using two thumbs than anyone types using a Swype keyboard and a single thumb.

Pixel user, I use it occasionally but it's not really faster. in fact it can be slower than two finger typing and predictive text.

I had one for work and it was awesome in some ways.

I would love to get back to something like that Metro UI. Is anything current similar to it?

Swype is the closest I've gotten to my "no look T-9 texting days"

I have a pixel 2 and google's gboard that has a swipe feature built in.

I can type 10x faster with it, would never go pack to pecking. It's almost akin to pecking with two fingers on a PC keyboard vs touch-typing.

that's because the majority of American iPhone users are gd morons, carry on.

I wont even begin to talk about the stupidity of iMessage again... and American's inability to adapt.

iMessage is awful. Really all that needs to be said.

Any type of messaging app/platform that can't operate across all operating systems is nuts in 2019. Yet here we are.

Add in browser or app based messaging from any desktop or laptop... I work in a standard, yes, STANDARD office environment and there is a large chunk of messages I receive every day, that I just ignore because I'm on my Windows computer and don't feel like responding using a phone keyboard. Meanwhile my wife, friend group from church, and my cousin all use WhatsApp, we get all of the features you actually need from a messaging app, a mixture of iPhone and Android users; and me responding to them in a reasonable time - from my desktop or laptop.

ETA: meanwhile my friend I used to hang out with at my old church and 5 of my other friends... I haven't responded to one of their messages in weeks. I hate messaging on iMessenger, I tried tried to get them to switch but they wouldn't, so I don't really think to "message" them anymore

Yeah, cause you have a typical socialist mindset. I want everything, and I want it for free.

I don't think apple should give the tech away, but I do think that iPhone users do not realize that iMessage being limited to iPhones only negatively affect iPhone users.

Android users have the same messaging experience regardless of who they are texting (RCS may change this) but if I text from an iPhone to an Android my experience as an iPhone user is terrible.

All iPhone users should be screaming for apple to open up iMessage to Android. As much as apple and iPhone users talk about security and e2e encryption on iMessage, alot of them do not realize that e2e goes away when the green bubble pops up.

I think apple is slowly realizing that being a services company is going to be more lucrative than being a hardware company as the tech matures. Hopefully they realize they can charge Android users for iMessage and create another revenue stream.
