Got the wife a new laptop, didn't realize the latest office is $130 on Amazon. She needs Word/Excel for her job and isn't tech savvy enough to use other free options like OpenOffice.

Are there other sites out there that have discounted office codes or maybe the past year's software?

There is a free online version of Office LINK . All you need is to set up a free microsoft account.

I've used it before but I will say it's inconvenient enough, ie you can't double click a local file and have it launch into online Word, that I installed Libre Office and use the cloud version of MS Office when I need to be 100% sure of the formatting.

$20 on that one. Thanks for the suggestion. Seemed sketchy as hell but it works

I bought a code off reddit for like 30 dollars one time. It was legit. The guy at Best Buy told me to do it.

I later subscribed to office 360. 120 a year is worth it for 5 computers, 3(I think) tablets/phones and a terabyte of cloud space.

Is her employer so cheap that they can't provide this?

I was thinking the same thing. What kind of employer doesn’t provide Microsoft Office as a basic necessity?

I haven't used it personally but a friend told me he buys from scdkey.com with good success.

scdkey.com looks sketchy AF. I wouldn’t trust my credit card info on that site.

she should be able to log into O365 with her .org account and either (1) download the apps (2) run everything from the cloud...

Sounds like you aren't doing it wrong, you're just not doing it correctly

I don't know these things...I asked her if she had access through the school system to download the programs on a home computer and she wasn't sure. She called a couple of co-workers and asked but none have heard of that

I'm pretty tech dumb compared to the wife, she makes me look like a professional

Microsoft has all kinds of ways to get Office for free or $10 to students or school employees. Here's a link. LINK

Buying a bootleg code from a sketchy site isn't a good idea. And then the bad guys have your credit card info. Maybe they sell that info also.

If she happens to work for a company that uses Microsoft you may be able to get it for $15.00 through work. Just an idea if possible
