Been using a Macbook Pro since 2011 in college and finally crapping out on me. Where is the best place to get a new one and what model do yall recommend (Pro vs Air)? I don't do any programming or video editing, just basically use to surf internet & Microsoft Office.

So basically you need a $150 Chromebook but want to spend an extra $800 for a light up Apple logo.

Buy a Chromebook or cheap Windows computer if all you are doing is surfing and enterprise apps.

BH Photo. if you open a Payboo credit card account they waive the sales tax. Then just pay the card off in full.

So? It goes off your report in a few months, plus they report you paid your balance off, and that's credit, plus that stays on your report. Not to mention you're ready to go next time you wanna buy something from them.

If a 2011 MacBook was still getting the job done for you until very recently, the new MacBook Pros are overkill. Get a M2 MacBook Air. Check how much storage you use and upgrade that from base model if you think needed.
15" deals at Best Buy are killer right now.
13" I'd get Apple Certified Refurb LINK

So they were happy with a product that lasted 12+ years, but should switch to a PC to save a few hundred dollars and potentially be frustrated with learning a new OS? Makes sense.

The absolute best deals will typically be a Best buy open box.

Best Buy price matches, even after the purchase. I bought mine at BB, then Costco had a sale a couple weeks later. Best Buy honored it no problem via web chat and sent me a refund.

Get the Air, you don't need the Pro.

This applies to all laptop style computers, but get the largest screen you can afford. Also, get one with 16MB of memory.

As an owner of 3 MacBook Pros all less than 3 years old my best advice for you is

Don't. Just don't.

They're honestly pretty bad at this moment. 1 has been sent back to Apple 3 times. Ports twice and screen once. Another twice, ports. The third is doing okay. On the other hand my kids MacBook Air has been fine which is great because I bought it for her to have a spare for the always breaking Pro.

Get the air. I'd go for the M2 since it has the newer design. You'll get another 10+ years out of it.

How can someone honestly say that a MacBook isn’t any good when one has been operating since
tWENTY 11?!

MacBooks are awesome. Get another one. He’ll get the Pro, why not?! Especially if you’re going to use it for the next 13 years.
