Apple charges $349 for the HomePod, making the device more expensive than competing smart speakers from Amazon and other companies. Apple put a lot of effort into promoting the HomePod's superior sound quality, but its high price tag, its lack of connectivity with non-Apple devices, and its inability to work natively with music services other than Apple Music have likely hurt its sales.

Good

I like Apple, but I'm glad their stale device that relies on one of the shittiest features in the Apple ecosystem isn't doing well

Idiots. Airpods are successful because they can work with other phones, such as my Blackberry Keyone Black Edition. Guess they went the walled garden route again.

Apple Music is the worst.

Maybe they should focus on what the consumer wants and not advertising.

I keep waiting for the fact that they refuse to integrate with other devices to bite them. I mean facetime is video chat, every phone can do it but apple segments their users.

Never used it and know nothing about it, but last I heard, they're at 40 million users and set to surpass Spotify in the not too distant future, plus, it's expected to drive Apple's fast growing services business for the next couple of years.

HomePod was DOA. It just isn’t innovative and doesn’t serve a purpose that isn’t already met by the market.

The crazy thing is they are still projecting to sell 7 million homepods. SEVEN MILLION. Who the frick is buying this.

I'm a huge Apple consumer, but the homepod was so underwhelming.

to be fair the homepod is competing with high end wireless speakers like sonos which cost $200 and up.

I got the homepod as a gift. I have Alexa. I'll take Alexa 9 times out of 10.

AppleMusic also isn't for me, I just want the system to play music I like off of a few songs. Apple Music doesn't hit the mark for that.

Would have rather had the TWO Sonos for the same price.

But I don't complain about free.

Look at you comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges.

I agree they swung and missed big time with the HomePod, but,

I don't get this at all? AM is great. It being able to mix right in with all my own music is what sold it to me over Spotify (which I've learned has a saved song limit.)

Had they priced it around $150-$199, I think they'd have been much more successful. How can I justify dropping $350 on a HomePod when I could get up to 10 Echo Dots to put around my house for close to the same price?

Huge swing and a miss by Apple under Tim Cook. They’re being left behind by far cheaper products that-literally-just work far, far better...

They’ve got the talent, deep pockets and know-how to compete with anyone in tech from a Products perspective...and they just face planted.

Just a bad look from them...and the iPhone X isn’t a resounding success either.

I don't know what the sales success looks like, but I'm a huge fan of the changes they made. I honestly think they're going to make that the standard form factor going forward.
