Textra is the most popular app and it's great.

Textra is great, but looks a little outdated these days, imo.

Stock Messages is just fine, and supports RCS, so as soon as carriers start supporting Goole Chat, RCS will come along and Android texting won't be so atrocious

What do you want it to look like? It is a messaging app. You send and receive messages

I disagree. I think the stock Android messaging is the best so far.

I had to switch to Textra, the stock messaging app on my Pixel crashes constantly and lags. Anyone else see this?

Mine has never done this. The only annoying thing that goes on for me, and our group can't figure it out, is the fact that our group texts break up into multiple strings/threads/whatever.

The shapes, colors, and fonts are all a bit dated.

I still proudly wear cargo shorts. Wtf do I care what it looks like if it works well.? Plus you can customize a lot of that.

That's all fine and well. I was just giving my opinion, take it or leave it.

A real, objective criticism of Textra is a lack of RCS support. Google is trying hard to rally the carriers to allow RCS.

iMessage is the only reason I switched to the iPhone. Greatest thing ever. I used Textra. It was ok.

So are you asking about an app that you connect your cell# to, and text from? Not like a wassap or whatever type?

Serious question, as I never get the difference when some says "messging app"

I like the stock Messages app and the web interface ( https://messages.android.com/).
