I have an iPhone 8 and I can’t imagine what features I need in my life that this phone doesn’t have

Smartphones are a mature product. They aren't really releasing many new features. Better hardware and longer battery life. That's about it. I usually replace mine because the battery starts to suck.

I know I never have to install anti-virus software on my Macs, but have always had to on PCs. That's not Apple propaganda, it's a fact.

Agreed. The peak was 2009-2015. Seems lackluster since then as far as features are concerned.

iPhone vs the top Android phones are basically a wash. It all depends which ecosystem you prefer.

That's just because nobody writes viruses for Macs. If they become as widely used as PCs they'll have plenty of them.

So enjoy the benefits of obscurity. Bonus--you're not using Windows.

I like what Apple has been doing with iPhone and iPad for the same reasons you don’t. Small, incremental upgrades on a mature product that is built well and will perform well for 4 years or so.

I love my iPad Pro and Surface Pro pretty equally, but for totally different reasons.

Anyway, it seems to me like the quality of the iPhone is superior to androids. Most people who I know that use androids replace them almost yearly, while I can use an iPhone for 4 years.

this is so funny bc I watch my family do this all the time while bragging about how much better their android is.

quote:

ETA: Android users always tout their customization, they are customizing things on their phones that most people couldn’t give two shits about. I use my phone for a handful of things: calling, texting, a little internet browsing, and taking pics. I don’t need a shite ton of customization to do those things.

I think I got over needing to customize my phone about 12 years ago. I dont care that Apple is restrictive. It does all the things I need it to do. Im not looking for it to fill some void in my life. Thats what alcohol is for

Not really.

If you want a decent phone, it’s going to be expensive whether it’s an iPhone or Android. The pixels are probably the best phones out right now and they are more expensive than iPhones.

While true, it's also inherently more difficult to infect a Mac. A user has to explicitly allow the program to run.
