Replacing a 55 inch tv that i use outside (in wooden box when not being used under covered patio).

I was looking at the TCL 5 series, want a tv that is bright as can be because its outside and prone to glare.

Want it to have over air antenna built in and Roku

Any recs on good tvs that aren't too expensive for this?

And when is the best time to buy a tv? now or wait until labor day sales?

Just buy the cheapest tv that has the size and features you want. Expect to get 5 years out of it and rise/repeat. No sense in spending good money on an outdoor tv

Better off just getting a $20 leaf antenna and streaming stick separate

I struggled with this decision and finally pulled the trigger on the ONN Walmart Roku Tv. It was the cheapest at the time and like the other poster said, when it goes bad, just replace it with another one! Btw, it gets bright enough for me on brightest setting.

I have a TCL Roku TV on outside and recently bought another one (55" was on sale at Walmart for under $300 a few weeks ago) for my office. They're great, inexpensive TVs.

I've had a 43" TCL out under my patio for 7 years now. Still pumping. As for built in off-air antenna, I don't think that exists. You'll have to provide an antenna.

TCL's roku format is solid. No need for streaming device. The only time I have used a TCL OTA tuner was in an AirBnB. I was able to get a CBS football game with a coat hanger.

I’m in this cycle. I typically wait for a sale and try to buy the cheapest 55” I can find. I usually get 3-4 years out of them. Secret is to keep them covered except when using them. Found that out after first one lasted 2 years.

It doesn’t matter brand. Just turn it up as bright as possible for daytime. I just stream off built-in Roku.

I recently saw some as cheap as $200 w Roku. At a cost of $50-$75 per year, no one should be upset if it pops in 3 years. If you get 4, you’ve done well.

Yea my current one has lasted 7 years.

Trying to decide to buy now or wait until the next big sales. Would like to watch the LSU game on it for Labor Day.

Search “cheapest 55 inch tv” and go from there. You’d be surprised with the deals that are already happening.

I just did this as well, but in the 42" flavor given space limitation. Went with Best Buy house brand Insignia. No problems so far. However, in my climate the issue has always been cold weather performance. They are dimmer in the fall-winter than spring-summer (at least with the ones I've had up previously). Hopefully it won't be an issue with this one. But with just under $150 in it, I don't really care that much....

I have 3 50+ inch screens in my house. Living room and kids play room, and outdoor patio (covered). The outside patio screen is always the oldest tv in the house.

When the patio one dies, I get a new tv for the living room and shift them down the line to the patio TV.

There are so many good TV's for under 1k that it doesnt make sense to buy one specifically for the patio. They are all bright enough and mainly get used at night anyway.
