Would anyone watch a FIFA equivalent of the N.I.T. for world soccer?

Keep it to 16 teams in an immediate play off. Champion gets what any NIT champion gets. Pride and the sense of damn, if we'd only made it the real thing.

Auto-bid:
Last 2 out of CONMEBOL - Venezuela (40), Peru (45)
Last 2 out of AFC - Uzbekistan (59), Jordan (63)
4 Losers of UEFA Qual - Sweden (32), Ukraine (16), Romania (29), Iceland (52)
2 Losers of CONCACAF Hex - Panama (31), Jamaica (81).
OFC Winner if not qualified for WC - New Zealand (97)
CAF Final Round losers - Senegal (74), Ethiopia (107), Tunisia (48), Egypt (36), Burkina Faso (60).

This year, Peru, Sweden and Senegal look like the favorites to win such a tournament with Panama as a dark horse.

To be honest, none of these teams seem very interesting and I hardly see why expanding the World Cup field as some have mentioned would be any good. If you're not one of the top 32 teams in the World... then what's the point?

While the idea is neat, I just can't see sitting down to watch that.

May watch the later rounds if it is late July because there is literally nothing else on TV.

Qatar is so bad they'd never even make this field.
