When’s the Draw? I feel like it’s usually in December/january.
Posted on 11/21/25 at 8:06 am to Broski
Italy, Poland, Turkey and Denmark could be those 4 Euro playoff teams in pot 4
I like that we have played 4 pot 2 teams in the last 2 windows

Expanded field sucks so hard.already made qualifying irrelevant and now makes the group stage irrelevant for most of the top teams. First they stole college football and now the world cup. Next they'll come for Augusta and then there will be nothing left.

Especially with 32 teams making it to the knockout. Should’ve done only 24 make it to knockout.
48 teams/12 brackets of 4/top two in each advance with top 8 overall points winners getting a bye into round of 16. Sort of mirror the expanded CL.

That is definitely the best option if there are 48 teams. It makes the group stage meaningful.
Anyways, I ran the draw simulator and got Paraguay, South Korea, and Cape Verde. I’ll take that for sure.

Now news comes out that even after the draw Friday, we won't know who's playing when where and how
Even more bullshite from FIFA. I get what they're doing but some people are trying to plan shite and this makes it even more impossible.
I'm basing whether I attend a game or not completely on venue/location and who is playing there.
Can't believe a 48-team WC is held in the US and I'm very unsure whether or not I'll see a game.
"For the first time at a World Cup draw, the venues and kick-off times for all 104 matches won't be released on the same day as we learn the groups -- with FIFA instead placing the games in the best location based on the time zones, of which there are four for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The full schedule will be revealed at 12 p.m. EST (5 p.m. GMT), with FIFA saying president Gianni Infantino will be "joined on stage by FIFA legends" to go through the games and give analysis.
"The final version of the match schedule will be available in March, once the FIFA and European play-offs have taken place and the final six slots have been filled."
Friday's World Cup draw takes place at 12 p.m. EST in Washington."

As time marches on, and information is available to us all, it’s clear the vast majority of organizations, from political to sporting to civic and beyond are all corrupted.

quote:This is maddening. I was trying to make a family vacation out of it but looks like a US friendly in the spring may be a better deal. Then I’ll try to catch at least one game myself.

I gave up. I'll try to get an after market ticket in KC. At this point, I don't really care who plays, I'd just like to say I've been to a WC game. I tried to get tickets, but the process is such a pain in the arse.
Posted on 12/2/25 at 4:22 pm to ShrevetownTiger
The process for tickets is way too complicated and clearly on purpose to trick people out of money. There is no reason for it to be this way otherwise.

This going to be the official draw thread?
Posted on 12/5/25 at 8:20 am to southpawcock
Sure why not.
Fox has the draw listed for 11am CT with a pre-draw show at 10:30am, but because it's a FIFA event I'm sure there will be some hour-long interpretive dance number before a single ball is picked.
