That sequence where Haaland helped clear out a corner and then charged down and almost got on the end of it shows what a machine the dude is.

The fact that Canada and one of Australia/Egypt will be through and Ivory Coast/Netherlands go home is annoying

Yeah, the matchups have been fun, but each pairing is either 1 vs 3, 1 vs 2, or 2 vs 2.

The 2 vs 2 such as Canada/South Africa and Australia/Egypt have definitely felt like the weakest.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to have Jameis Winston
on the World Cup coverage should be fired.

Better than having Gus Johnson call games.

Gus Johnson

One of the worst WC announcers the US has offered up on our TV broadcasts.

Monotone Landon is right up there this year as well.

I don't think FOX ever used Gus as a World Cup commentator.

They were definitely grooming him for the role when they initially got the rights, but there was so much backlash on how bad he was during the Gold Cups that they punted on the idea.

Norway Brazil is gonna be a low key banger.

Good for Norway man. They have a generational striker and a borderline world class No. 10 in Odegaard. Great young wingers too. I can see Brazil getting knocked out if they aren't careful.

A Gabriel vs. Haaland matchup too. The two are World Class and fricking hate each other on the field so should be delicious.

He's made Ian Darke sound worse just by his association to him.

Telemundo all the way

You're correct. It was the women's world cup, a Concacaf gold cup and some UEFA qualifiers heading into the Euros 13/14 time frame.

Mea Culpa

Gus got the Bayern/Dortmund Champions League final, too. He was terrible.

Can Sweden shock the world today?

I think the French back line is gettable, but I just don't know how anyone can slow down their attack

Winner gets Paraguay Haram Ball, who is channeling their 2014 Costa Rica

Rooting for absolute calamity. I don't think Sweden has the horse power to keep up from what I've seen, but an offensive onslaught would be fun to watch.

I could see 4-2 here or something like that
Sweden forward are really good and France back line can get lazy

Sweden's back line just hasn't looked near up to the task to help them stay ahead in a match where France starts to showcase their attacking pool. It's just so ridiculously deep.

They have 5 but yea. Our USA men's basketball team looks the same way.

Most if not all of those guys were born in France. There are 20-30 guys playing in this world cup from France that aren't on the French roster
