Egypt is passing great until they hit the box. Just can't get any clean passes or touches.

Australia plays every game like they have 10 men from the start

Very true. I feel that's how a lot of previous US teams have played at the World Cup. Glad we actually can string together an attack now.

Is Australia now just going to try and hang on for 10 more minutes?
Egypt really getting some good looks now

I used to like seeing pens, still kinda do, but the older I get the more it seems like a crappy way to end a game.

I get that sentiment. I prefer it in a game like this with two mediocre teams than in a game like Morocco Netherlands.

Irankunda has money on a loss apparently

At least they have 30 minutes extra time. I agree, in general I don't like when an entirely different game decides the outcome, but at some point the game has to end.

Changing keepers? I guess one is better at PKs. Don't see it often, though.

I would think the younger, presumably more athletic keeper would be the better option but idk

Last team I remember doing this was Netherlands in 2014
It worked for them
This Aussie keeper has done well today, though, so IDK about this

Like I said in Germany Paraguay - look for the last Egypt sub to miss his penalty
The subs they bring on for penalties that don't touch the ball hae a poor track record

But pressure does funny things to people.
Fabián Balbuena entered the fray in the 121st minute of Paraguay’s last-32 tie against Germany, with manager Gustavo Alfaro presumably convinced of his capabilities from the penalty spot.

On the surface, it seems like a sound theory. But it turns out, it’s not that simple in practice.
Remarkably, eight of the last 10 players to be subbed on after the 115th minute ahead of a penalty shootout at a UEFA European Championship or FIFA World Cup have gone on to miss their penalty. That’s just a 20% conversion rate.

What was the Egypt team watching on the tablets and laptop? It didn't look like PK footage ??

I don’t know jack shite about soccer but I don’t understand putting in a new goalkeeper here.
