Stuff like this is why American's as a whole don't like Soccer. Clearly erroneous calls happen again and again at top quality matches and Fifa just doesn't care to fix it. This shite pisses me off. Because of a referee's decision our only hope appears to just hope we can hold it scoreless for the last 60 minutes (time remaining and extra time) and then win the coin flip in pk's.

I am a very novice soccer watcher, but I've watched about 95% of this game and it's clear to me that Brazil is better than the US. Their girls are faster and they handle the ball better. I was hoping that the US could hold onto their 1-0 lead, but that call on the penalty kick just killed our team. I fear that our only hope was a 1-0 win.

False, in most other sports there are at least checks and balances in place. In baseball, other than small judgement calls the umpires can huddle, in Football we have replay and huddle, and in basketball the same. There are repurcussions and checks.

In soccer, the head ref has unfettered discretion, which is a joke.

If they score again, I hope the US goes all out trying to injure the ref.

Nigel De Jong style.
