Freese is really good at penalty kicks

One of the better performances I’ve seen from a goalkeeper in a penalty shootout

Somehow the USA Vs. Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala is fitting given the political climate

What did Jesse Marsch say about the USMNT recently that got a lot of people heated?

He made a passive aggressive comment about how he would never bring a B-team to the Gold Cup or whatever, but he's been making passive aggressive comments ever since the USSF, rightfully, turned him down during the coaching search.

He's not a good coach on top of being a whiny bitch.

US looked...ok. At times they showed some good stuff, the movement up front to get open and through was nice a few times. They played wide and they looked organized mostly. We need to be more aggressive and take more shots. D looked good until it didn't. The last goal was D meltdown. The one off the post that they should have scored was as well. PK suck but they do the job of deciding the game. Freeze was as good as you can hope for.

If this US B team somehow wins this Gold Cup, the US soccer world should be merciless to him on twitter. Dude is so unlikable.

I am in love with the way we are pushing through-balls and attempting to pass with full-on chips and dinks just over the hips of the defenders to play through the middle. The chances are coming in droves, but you're right... We need to take more shots.

I love what I see from Luna and De la Torre in the attacking third! Those two really put pressure on the half-spaces and in the channels creating space for runs in behind.

And we saw a (comparative) metric shite-ton of 1-2s played in attack, which seems like a revolutionary concept in American soccer post-Gregg... Hopefully this offensive growth and style development continues.

As a side note, I am not going to sit here and "pine" for Agyemang, but good grief...

How many scoring chances has he created by laying it off at the top of the box in hold-up play?

Yes, his finishing is lacking seriously, but I haven't seen a striker in our pool hold up play like he has on such a consistent level regardless of finishing ability.

He always knows where the support is coming from and he is big/fast enough to pressure the CBs with deep diagonal runs.

And the shot he fired from that tight angle which hit the top corner of the post, I have no clue how he put it that close to being in.

Is he the current lead-candidate for the #9? Absolutely not. But he brings something different to the squad that we just don't have.

If he gets any run-time with the starting XI, and that productivity follows or becomes enhanced, we have killers on the wing and in the midfield to make that a dangerous proposition for any team to defend.

InB4 Broski says he has no "potential".

It's honestly mind blowing we haven't been able to develop a solid #9 over the last 2 decades.

We should have that body type in droves that can hold up play, is fast/strong and at minimum can cause havoc in the box with ability in the air.

No one is expecting Ronaldo/Zlatan but GD, how can we not find a 6 foot plus front man that isn't totally lacking in so many facets of the game?

Is anyone planning on going to the Gold Cup final if the US wins on Wednesday?

I’m trying to figure out which section would be slotted to the US, though I figure the resale market makes it essentially impossible to figure out.

Also I can’t figure out if ticket prices will drop or if CONCACAF prefers to kelp prices high while having empty seats. It kind of seems like the latter

I could not agree more with all of this. The hold up play imo is the best since Jozy. Once the team gets more practice with these layoffs and knowing each other’s runs I think attack will improve. Luna and Tillman both look great at anticipating these, but wingers have thus far been lacking. We definitely sacrifice some defensive stability under GGG for more attacking chances. I don’t mind it, I found us to be anemic under GGG even if the defense was phenomenal, which just led to boring games.
