My starting 11 predictions...
GK: Howard
D: Spector, Onyewu, Bocanegra, Bornstein
M: Donovan, Bradley, Edu, Holden
F: Altidore, Dempsey
first off the bench: Torres, Clark, Cherundolo, Buddle, DeMerit
It's not Spain or Brazil, but this is a pretty decent starting 11 with some solid guys coming off the bench. I don't see why people are freaking about guys making camp that probably wont even make the trip...

Its the same back line that helped us clinch last Sept-Oct...who would you rather? Cherundolo?

I wish we could convince Pato, Diego, Ronaldinho, Benzema, and Nasri to gain US citizenship.
That would be dope.

Meh, my first reaction was depression but who has been left off? Its just Davies and you know Bob would want him on there if he thought it was doable.
We even left Casey off. I didn't see that coming at all. I think most people wanted Buddle and Gomez in camp and they are.
So I don't see anything to be that upset about.
Looking on the bright side, there's definitely still time for Bob to screw up, please no Rogers, Klejstan or EJ in the final 23.

What I'd like to see
Howard
Spector Onyewu Demerit Boca
Holden Bradley Edu Donovan
Dempsey Jozy
I bet Bob starts with Dempsey on the right though and plays another forward with Jozy, and lets Holden come in for Dempsey around the 65-70 minute mark and Dempsey moves up front.

I'd like to see that same lineup, except put in Buddle for Dempsey...slide Demp to Holden's position.

I don't know if I like Buddle that much. I think he'd by the 70th minute sub for Jozy.

I'm feeling the Buddle/Gomez 65th minute inclusion as well. If we get a lead, I'm not opposed to putting Ching out there to hold on to the ball.

I'm on the Buddle for Heisman campaign. What does that even mean?

Would be fine with this. Doubt Bob will do it though for the 1st game.

He needs to give all of the forwards serious minutes in the lead-up friendlies. Who knows? Those guys might wreck shop when it comes down to it.
I'm back in full-on Ameritard mode after my hours-long partial meltdown.

Actually, yeah. Dolo has his flaws, but he's really grown on me as a solid guy on the backline we can simply rely on to play well. He's not a chief, but sometimes you need an Indian.

Midfield is solid. Without davies dempsey should start everygane at forward. Def is ok, but we have howard. Lets hope our d stays healthy cus we get thin real quick outside of gooch and bocanegra. Spector and demerit are simply ok.

My apologies for my Adu-fueled meltdown earlier. Hot button issue for me. I hope the kid succeeds.
Here's two BIG bright spots for me:
Sucks that Davies wasn't included. But what kind of story would it be for Buddle OR Gomez to make good on their hot streak? Neither having a sniff of the team in this cycle, except for Herc's cameo in Copa America (and maybe one other match?). Buddle hasn't had a cap since 200-mother-f'n-3.... but here he is, and on fire!
Secondly, the Adu discussion brings up a point. Look at this team. Who needs to be replaced next time, because they're too old? DeMerit and Bocanegra maybe, but 33-34 isn't ancient for a center back. (Rio Ferdinand is 32, as is Carlos Puyol for example...) And if so, Gooch and Goodson are younger. Look at the others. Donovan, Dempsey, Jozy, Bradley, Feilhaber, Torres, Holden, Davies, Spector... even Bornstein and Kljestan. All between 22 and 27. Then the guys like Marshall, Rogers, Adu, Gaven who have been "around" the program but not key contributors this cycle. They ALL have at least one more Cup in them. Many will be around 28-32.... in 2018!!!
This "group" hasn't even reached their peak yet.

I'm still heartbroken about Charlie. I feel like a really hot girl left me for some doucher.
I bet that doucher was Robbie Rogers or Eddie Johnson.

slide boca inside with onyewu and start dolo outside and you've got your world cup champions.

I like DeMerit's toughness. I think Bocanegra isn't the player he was which is why Uncle Woy let him leave for Rennes last year. It's my opinion he's still a good option in the middle, but on the outside, no. He has "lost a step" in my estimation.
