Gregg should have been fired after that awful away record. Then he feasted in home games and fans were all in again. He is 1-3-2 vs WC qualified teams. Gregg was the wrong coach to begin with but it was rigged for him.

We may not make it out of group and it wouldn’t shock me. Such a travesty we can’t find the right coach. And can’t play the right players (or tactics) with so many available out of 350m+ population.

Shameful. Fans have been spoon fed how great this team was and those marginal fans will watch some WC highlights and if embarrased they may just tune out. To grow the sport here we need our WC team to go far.

Many fans have held on for years with the hope we could get to the top. With so many other sports to enjoy they were told for a few decades US soccer would rise up and compete. Our WC run in Korea might have been our best one ever and it appears we won’t get back this year with this coach.

There was no energy in this game. Players were going thru motions but had no care. Its coaches job to fix. Japan played with effort.

Gregg should've been fired after the loss to Canada in Nations League in 2019. I and many others said that at the time.

It didn't happen.

If we would've fired him at any point after the COVID break though, it would've been impossible to find another coach considering we fired someone who was winning more than he was losing during a qualifying cycle.

To be fair to Greg, he should have never been hired in the first place. He’s like Larry Leo at tigerdroppings. Highly incompetent and possibly mentally challenged, but it’s not their fault they were hired.

We'd probably be better off if the USMNT coach was an aggregating bot.

He’s an MLS coach, a “victim” of nepotism.

That wasn't/isn't the problem.

An MLS coach is responsible for the best run in USMNT history.

Good coaching can come from anywhere.

The problem was that we waited a full damn year since Cuova, playing friendlies with no direction for the federation, cut off 60% of the coaching pool because we wanted someone who spoke perfect english, and then hired the brother of the COO at the time.

It was a god awful hire.

But I think Gregg since the COVID-break has provided more positives then negatives for the USMNT. But he will ultimately be judged on what he does in 6 weeks from now.

We suck. Gregg has no idea how to win with our best players against good competition.

One glaring thing that I took from this match is how fast the Japanese are or how slow we are. They consistently ran us off the field, Beating our players to slow passes, which some of that may have been attributed to the shitty field but if you know the field is slow and somebody's passing you a ball run to the ball don't wait for it to get to you because the Japanese guy is gonna zoom in and take it right off your foot.

All we can hope for is the players to rise above the shite tactics and play at a high level that can give us a chance to succeed. I'm going in with low expectations with hope for a successful tournament. No matter what I'm going to enjoy the WC because this shite only happens once every four years and this event is how I became a fan.

I like Herdman, he's a basic formation common sense manager. Klose is another one to keep an eye on.

The more I’m reviewing this match the more angry I’m getting about how glaringly obvious our plan wasn’t working, and there was no plan B. Grehggg treated it as match to see more players contradicting his earlier comments that tune ups aren’t meant for that. Again don’t get me stared on Ferrera’s missed header.

What a hot mess.

Honestly, I think 2010 Bob Bradley could get this team to the QFinals.

Stop pretending we have Barca and Man City world class talent and play like Americans. Be direct. Have grit and determination. Counterattack. Use the relatively good quality we have to maximize that approach.

We won’t win it all either way, but no one expects that, and at least we’d have a personality that reflects our culture.

Bradley was unfairly criticized during a large part of his tenure imo, but he probably did more with less and may be the best manager we’ve had.
