Taking my 9 year old son on a trip to hot up the 3 MLS teams this summer. Houston, Austin, Dallas all have home games the same week.

How are the games atmosphere?

Is Austin good or just proud of there team. They are the most expensive tickets.

Both. Austin FC is a very fun team to watch and based on what I see on tv, their stadium atmosphere looks amazing.

Being so new doesn’t help their ticket prices either. Here in Charlotte, prices are no less than $50 for a very average team.

Ho hum atmosphere at Houston and Dallas. Dallas put their stadium in Frisco hoping to cash in on the rich white soccer families and it hasn’t worked. Houston has a group that tries to get the fans involved (drums, horns) but if the team stinks, it doesn’t work. Austin looks like a lively crowd but they are full of SJW’s, if that’s your thing. Stadium is cool and located in a cool development.

Yep. Atmosphere is great if the team is good and they're playing a good team. I imagine Hector Herrera's arrival will drive a pretty high level of renewed interest.

Just went to Austin's stadium for the USMNT game and the stadium is great. Pretty hot but that was to be expected. Houston is a cool stadium but the atmosphere can be hit or miss. Day games there are brutal in that stadium.

I’ve been to Houston and FCD games and they are brutally hot. One side of the FCD stadium gets some shade, given a game later in the day, but the other side just gets torched. Guess which side my naive pasty self got seats at? On the plus side they do have the US soccer hall of fame there. But the commute out to Frisco is a pain in the arse and it would have been nice if they had built the stadium somewhere like Arlington.

Agreed. I have season tickets to FCD and I’m not in the shade

Austin has the best atmosphere and the most rabid fans. Now that FC Dallas has a pretty good team, the atmosphere is getting better. Houston I don’t know much about

If you are going for atmosphere, then it is Austin easily. But they will be the most expensive too. You can get supporter tickets for $50-75 if you want to be in the middle of the rowdiness. Would be a blast for your 9 year old, but the supporter section is also standing room only - no seats.

If you don’t want to be in that section, then I would try to sit close to it so that your son can still be near all the singing and chanting.

There is a Lexus club section that’s expensive but comes with free food, beer and wine. It’s also in the shade (well as much shade as can be provided). Tickets in this section can be found at a wide range of prices from $150-$500+.

There isnt a bad seat in the place regardless. Rest of the stadium prices will likely cost $120+ per ticket.

Austin is still currently near the top of the standings right now, but I think it is fools gold. They also started with one of the easiest schedules. I think they start falling down the standings as the season goes along.

Tryin'a get the Mexicans to come to a match.
I despise that dude. I have followed both teams, Austin didn't exist yet, over the years, but not nearly so interested anymore.

This will almost kill Dynamo, for me.

No way. I have season tickets and I've sold them for several games and have not gotten over $90 for a ticket.

It depends on the game though. I've sold some for as low as $40, and that was just based on what the other tickets were listed at for my section, which is only 8 rows from the field, fully shaded at all times.

Always have. As cool as Dynamo is for a Houston team name, the original 1836 name was nixed for manufactured outrage (real Mexicans aren’t coming, they’re still watching Liga MX)

Well there you go. I’ve gone to three games this season and don’t think I’ve spent less than $140 per ticket after third party fees. Granted I am not buying the cheapest tickets available, but it seemed I never saw anything that low. Good to know though
