I didn't say it's fair, or right, or that other countries don't have bigger issues. But it's reality.

The US is held to a much higher standard than Morocco is

And Putin is a revered leader? I see what you are saying, and I get that Trump is controversial, but he won’t even be president in 2026, and Putin is going to be in charge of Russia this summer.

This is a bullshite move by Sunil, especially when he won’t be getting re-elected as USSF President. Sounds like he’s trying to tank our chances so his successor gets the blame.

It's not in anyone's incentive to have Morocco host. It's the embodiment of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

A Morocco world cup would get so much less money for FIFA than one in the US/Mexico/Canada, and as we all know, FIFA is about one thing, getting money.

Qatar circumvented the process as did Russia, with blatant bribes. I would be amazed if Morocco had the same ability to do that.

I fully believe that Gulati is saying this in order to look like a hero when the committee decides to give the US the world cup.

you’re trying too hard to defend your stance.

this year the world cup is being held in a country run by Vladamir Putin. in 2022 it’s being held in a country who doesn’t even attempt to hide the fact that they operate state sponsored slavery. to try and equate that to a current US President who won’t even be in power when the proposed world cup would take place is laughable. the president could be a cardboard box with a speaker system inside set to play anti-semitic rhetoric on loop and it still wouldn’t compare

If they were bidding today I think Russia would have a much harder time.

Again it's much more about perception than who is or isn't a bad actor

Fair, I should have phrased it some of the money he's not stealing from you.

That's why the universally beloved Barack Obama landed the 2016 Olympics for Chicago.

Barack Obama was president for 8 months when the 2016 Olympics were awarded. He had much bigger fish to fry.

And on another theme in this thread, nobody has tried to say that Russia or Qatar or Morocco or Brazil have better records of human rights, or more freedom. That these countries "deserve" the WC or Olympics or whatever more than the U.S.

The argument is that Donald J. Trump is such a douchenozzle, and has alienated just about every country that calls us friend (Who the hell picks a fight with Australia?), while cozying up to the likes of Putin and Duterte, that most voters will vote for Morocco out of spite.

I think it's a plausible argument. Do you really think Australia or Great Britain, will vote for the USA?

That is a fricking terrible defense of Obama... and even if I grant you that, what about the fact that Obama didn't land 2022 World Cup?

Yeah, and the Qatari leadership weren't douches with their slavery and such.

We get it, you don't like Trump, he's not my favorite person either, but if we don't get the bid, it will have very little to do with him and it's fricking trashy as frick that Sunil is already trying to push that narrative.

It's as good a defense as any. The favorites were always Rio and Madrid or Barcelona (can't remember which).

Nobody but Qatar was going to land that bid. We all know why.

Like I said, Qatar was going to win that bid regardless of Human Rights violations, or freedom, or weather, or facilities.

If the USA/Mexico/Canada bid is successful, it will be in spite of Trump, not because of him. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Morocco get the bid.

So when Qatar got it, it's because it's rigged.

If Morroco gets it, it's not because it's rigged, it's all Trump.

People like you, who blame Trump for everything, are exactly why Trump is president right now. Trump deserves blame for a lot of shite, not the World Cup bid.

You mean the Great Britain that voted to split from the EU largely for the same reasons Trump was elected President?

Just because there are a bunch of blowhards from those countries, doesn't mean their opinions are shared throughout the country as recent elections have shown.

Don't believe the hype about Trump and the hate.

The only ones you hear from are the small, vocal progressives around the world. 99% around the world don't give 2 shits.

And giving Russia and Qatar the bids, nullifies anything this dumbshit has to say.
