How does this make any sense?

So we're worried about the rest of the world's view of American politics affecting our hosting the WC 8 years from now?!

Meanwhile, they've sent the bid to Russia and Qatar, two countries the world aspires to align themselves with politically.

quote:

It's about perceptions of America, and it's a difficult time in the world. So there's only certain things we can control. We can't control what happens at the 38th parallel in Korea, we can't control what happens with embassies in Tel Aviv, and we can't control what happens with climate change accords.

Basically he means Trump the racist. Not to be confused with Russian racism and anti Semitism ir Qatari anti Semitism.

I for one wish we were more like the shining example of human rights and inclusion that is Qatar.

If only the US had the freedom of press as Russia, every sports reporter would push for it to be here.

This just sounds like he’s engineering an excuse if they screw up and don’t get the bid.

I mean if you're relying on an international electorate to award you a bid, you shouldn't be shocked when how your country and its leaders are perceived internationally come into play. How is that even remotely controversial?

While that's a fair point, they don't have a global embarrassment of a president either. Human rights record should count for more, but sadly in the real world it's easier to latch onto tweets and rhetoric. Not saying it's right, but it's reality.

That's why the universally beloved Barack Obama landed the 2016 Olympics for Chicago.

Nah, they just use slavery under the guise of indentured servitude to work people to death.

It's like Gulati already knows he can actually lose and is already pointing fingers to save his arse.

Can I have the extra money he is making you?

Not surprised that on a board full of "cucks" you are still the most "cucked" of all.

Yeah there is no place for that kind of comment on here.

Sunil is being ridiculous though. There have been two official bids. Morocco and the US/Canada/Mexico bid.

If the WC goes to Morocco, that will be more astounding than failing to get a place in the 2018 draw.

I've been more critical of Sunil and MLS/SUM than this entire board combined, but he's not wrong here. If you elect leaders who openly antagonize the international community, you're going to see some blowback.

Only if there are reasonable alternatives.

A World Cup in Morocco is less reasonable than one in Qatar, Russia, or an Olympics in Rio.
