Its funny you think that's not true. What's the reason? Jurgen is changing the culture. It wasn't in his best interest to bring in an older player with questionable reliability and passion.

Well, we play in CONCACAF and half of the team plays in MLS. Do you have any of our players' Champions League highlight reels from last year?

Half our fricking team plays in the entire. We qualify through CONCACAF.

Should we post Julian Green YMCA rec highlights in the German fourth division?

We understand that Jurgen is making changes and transforming the culture of the team. The only problem with this argument is that Donovan does not have any known issues with the team, he is way better than multiple options we brought, and Donovan was still one of our most fit players (supposedly finished third on the beeper test).

Well I wished most of our teams were playing with some of the big boys like Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG, ect but since they aren't my wished is for MLS to keep getting stronger.

the only thing i can counter your argument with is all those highlights were from 2013. I agree though that Donovan wasn't some out of shape piece of lard, and that he should have made the team and possibly started

If he went from that to "worse than Brad Davis" he must have had one hell of a rough 9 months.

Fat, worthless, post-sabbatical Landon Donovan - for reference.

More fat, worthless post-sabbatical LD hat-trick, with bonus breakaway and left footed bomb from the 18.

Fat, worthless, post-sabbatical, one-eyed LD with goal and assist to clinch WC qualification
looks like a guy who made some PKs, played some shitty defenses, and benefited from the system.

Landy is the most honest man in America. He is still my favorite athlete.

While I would guess that an aging Donovan would likely still be better than positions 13-23 on the roster, if JK had chosen him and sat him on the bench, then the whole World Cup would be about why isn't Donovan starting which would have screwed the chemistry of the team. He is a known face for a media and country that knows very few faces from the USMNT in general. It would have been a media circus. Yes, when Altidore went down, then sure, I guess the uS could have used another forward guy, but it seems to me that Altidore was really the only guy that had the specs for that position from the US pool regardless.

So he brings in Brad Davis (older) and Timmy Chandler (passion & reliability)

On one side, I know that he had every reason to be upset, and I know I'd have the same feelings.

On the other side, I know that if it was anyone but Landon, everyone would be pissed or posting Deal With It gifs (which I'd imagine are coming as a response to this). I think this is a pretty shitty way to look at things. After all the talk about being the biggest cheerleader if things didn't go his way, he hoped the team would falter without him? That's a pretty egotistical way to look at it. We all "understand", but that's just because we want to sympathize with him. It's clear that even he realized how big of a shithead that made him. I hope he does maintain positivity going forward because his teammates are listening to things like this. Look at Jermaine Jones shot at Alexi and Taylor.

I read the article more than once. Even if it was several matches ago and it was for only one meaningless match, no one is going to be happy to hear he wanted them not to play well. It's a really shitty way to react, and it's clear that he feels the same way. I'm just amazed at the fact that he went from "I'll be the biggest cheerleader" to "I hope they suck a little without me" when things really didn't go his way. I just don't want another Alexi, old and angry, on TV every time the US plays bitching about Jurgen or German-American players every chance he gets. That's what I meant by maintaining positivity.

Like I said, I understand why he felt that way. You just don't expect to hear that from an "anything for the success of the team" type of leader like Landon Donovan.

He was bitter for a day and then got over it.

Alexi doesn't do this.

He is proving Juergen right by doing this....Juergen didnt want a media side show to be about Donovan and his playing time etc. now instead of lying and taki the high road saying I was rooting for my friends and country he's reigniting the story and getting the focus on him and not the team.
