Review and technology have jumped the shark

Their implementation has caused a pedantic interpretation of rules.
Stamping on a player’s heel has always been a red card, but two guys getting feet tangled and one happening to land on the other’s heel was never a red card before VAR.
The offsides rule was not written to stop guys from just leaning past the second to last defender. It wasn’t written to catch a guy’s longest hair grazing the ball and not even changing its path.
In Portugal-Croatia, the technology stopped 3 goals that I think would have stood for most of soccer’s history.
These OCD, autistic tech nerds would throw us all in the pen for running a yellow light. These calls are not in the spirit of the game or its rules.

Every day of the week
Particularly in a sport as corrupt as football

No matter, it's here to stay. It ain't going nowhere.

Pedantic is annoying but if you start saying "Well, it wasn't that far offsides" you turn it into the ref's discretion.

I agree that slow motion still frames make the tackles look worse.
But the offsides is objective. He was off.

Technically true but now I'm starting to believe there is offside on damn near any goal shot (similar to a hold on ever down in football).

On that note, can you imagine CFB VAR that stops the game every time holding is detected?

I agree, but think that the technology should just be used better. Just let AI determine the rulings instead of some dumbass refs.

It already happens everytime a catch is made or a DB makes a hit.

I hate replay, especially slow motion that distorts the play on the field, but I think it works well for offside. Linesman are instructed to keep their flags down on marginal calls (perhaps allowing goals that would have been erased before). Replay is only used for offside when there is a goal scored. So, while it is a marginal call, replay is only used on outcome effecting plays.

I'm surprised that VAR goes so hard while people don't seem to GAF about throw ins & deflections. Like I know they're less important, but it goes from 100 to 0 as far as complaints or even people mentioning it

The last Croatia goal disallowed by automated offsides was deflected by a defender. Why was that not reviewed?

It was reviewed. They made the wrong decision based on the video IMO.

They absolutely did
Onside when ball was kicked. Only person to touch ball after kick and before the player called offside was the defender.
Ball sensor register one spike for contact. If the Croatian player touched with his head to trigger the offsides, then why didn't the ball register the defender's head contact?

Where is this evidence?

Everywhere.
It was in the broadcast apparently, to justify the decision for offsides.
That's why people are asking why the defenders touch didn't register. If the croatian player touched the ball then there should be two spikes, not one.
Because there's no debate that the defender's head touched the ball. So where's that spike?

Completely agree. I think that’s why you’re seeing the Wenger rule be tried out. Refs tended to give the tie to the offensive player if the general torso’s were inline. Now that it’s being judged by AI to within an inch people are realizing it’s kind of a dumb rule.
Red cards have never officially had an “intent” element written into the laws. It didn’t matter because refs never gave reds for unintentional coming together. Now VAR is coming and saying “doesn’t matter the context this is technically ‘excessive force’” even if unintentional.
You either need to rein in VAR or redo the rules.
Also having them advise on penalties is absurd. That Portugal penalty was 100% judgment call. It’s been not given 60 times this tournament, but one VAR official decides it’s a penalty and it is? Having them review subjective calls is absurd. Take notes from the NFL, would be like the if they had VAR for holding.
