You still have guys who rolled over in T&T, and played dead on the team. You want to change the direction, get rid of the Veterans from that team. They have never been leaders.

You cant put a diamond in a turd, and it's still a turd.

Bradley is going to be phased out sooner than later... Jozy is 29 years old and has literally no competition.

You can't just tell him bye. Someone has to push him out.

We are going to waste America's best pure talent ever because we can't get out of our own way and innovate American soccer.

How we can pin our hopes on Zardes up top blows my mind.

I think we are looking at a good 6-8 years of the status quo. Abysmal play against good competition, while winning against poor countries. with few brigtht spots during that time.

There is zero veteran leadership/talent on this current squad. The missing generation killed the national team. We are going to have to wait for the 18-20 year old talent on this team, and in the youth system, to reach their mid to late 20’s before I think we will start challenging good competition, and building quality depth.

I still expect us to qualify for the next World Cup, even though we will still be playing shite soccer. I imagine berhalter remains the coach through the next World Cup, and following what’s sure to be a disappointing tournament he’s immediately fired. Maybe by that point the USSF will have someone in place other than Earnie to lead a comprehensive coaching search, and make a competent hire. And hopefully that next coach is the right man to lead this next generation of American soccer.

So the same thing we've been doing since 2011.

That’s been our identity for some time now...however, I always felt like in previous cycles we would play up/down to our competition somewhat and be that scrappy side that has chances to win big matches (2014 WC against Ghana, Portugal, Belgium, 09 Confed Cup against Spain/Brazil, France and Portugal after we didn’t qualify for Russia).

It really looked to me like some of these kids would continue that in those post qualifier friendlies, but we legit look scared to death the few times we’ve played a solid team in a meaningful match since then.

Idk what the answer is. I’m not sure if it’s the manager, the tactics or the players that are most to blame, but I never remember feeling this kind of dread every time we play when Jurgen or Bob was at the helm.

My son is amazed that the best teams they play have no good athletes. They are small kids taught to foul and move the ball quickly. They play together for many years and are good, don’t get me wrong, but there’s just no one with speed and height and power.

I tried to talk him into the ODP regional camp, just so he could see the team US competition, but he didn’t want to go.

They play in two weeks in Birmingham, two more best-in-State teams...Tennessee will be real good, we’ll see what type players they have. I’m sure he’ll run into some national level talent soon enough.

The conversation is USNT talent...just saying that the youth talent selection is kinda wonky. The kids who make the U10+ ECNL teams or other regional leagues aren’t those kids, or it doesn’t appear to be, that’ll take us to the next level. They are very good players, but maximized to their ability as far as it pertains to physicality.

My son is learning how to pull shirts and hold arms and do all sorts of cheap things...But he’s been unimpressed with the physical talent.

Not the case for football, there are some absolute beast kids who are fast AF and tall and strong.

The kids are 10 years old. Physicality means almost nothing in the grand scheme of things at that age. The athletic side will come with time.

Hell, the majority of the time kids who are physically gifted at a young age suffer in the long run because the rely too much on their strength/pace and neglect other sides of the game. That's true for all sports.

My son’s playing in two regional leagues at U14, but these teams have been together for years. I just talked to the coach and he said one team they played last weekend had big athletes, Vestavia I think.

I'm glad Pulisic is pissed and speaking out. Maybe if other guys on the team do the same they will force some change.

His comment was one about tactics and general team attitude. Hopefully this is the beginning of something where the players take ownership and force change, whether through pride or organizational change. Preferably, though, we would see a bit of both.
