This is getting a little bit out of hand. We're talking about a team that has won 1 world cup. IMO only world cup success can be used to determine who is the GOAT, the euro cup is and always will be an inferior tournament. If they win the WC in 2014, then maybe an argument can be made.

Right now I just don't see how people can think they are better than Italy in 1934-38 or Brazil from 58-70, teams that won multiple and consecutive world cups in much more dominant fashion.

They gave up 1 goal in 6 games against the best talent in the world. That is dominating.

No team has ever been repeat champions at Euro or has ever won three straight major tournaments.

Good day.

In terms of what exactly?

Atmosphere? Yes

Media coverage? no

Overall talent? unequivocally no

If 1958 Brazil was similar player personnel wise to 1970 Brazil, besides Pele, then you're argument would be stronger.

Italy's 1934 World Cup was only slightly less dubious than Argentina in 1978.

That's the most ridiculous and incorrect statement I've ever heard/read. I'm sure if North Korea, New Zealand, and Trinidad and Tobago were in the tournament over the likes of Sweden, England, and Croatia it would be better right??

That said, frick Spain

The Euros may be stronger than the World Cup at the bottom, but it's missing a lot of the best talent in the World. Always.

Brazil's run is bigger when you factor them choking against Uruguay and getting screwed by Hungary.

I think the challenge here is the 'run' argument.

By definition, there is no real comparable tourney to the EURO at a regional level where people (including the countries actually care).

Thus, to promote GOAT based off winning 2 legs cuts out non-europe. To me that is unfair.

What Spain has done over these 4 years has been fantastic. No doubt.

But they have not been near as dominant as a few other clubs in history. Whether it is needing penalty kicks, losing in a major tourney, and having a few ties. Again - spectatular results but GOAT? I cant get there.
