Wow, some people are acting like the Copa America is that far below... There are a few sides that could compete for the Euro title (if allowed obviously)...

I watched most of the tournament last summer and I was entertained...

I'll probably get killed for this, but arguably more attacking talent in that tournament than the Euro's...

ETA: before anyone misinterprets my post Euros > Copa & Spain = GOAT (of what Ive witnessed)

Euros always just seem to be filled with more overall quality in play.
The soul destroying crap that passed for football when Greece won the competition disputes this belief.

I know when i watched them in the 2008 euro they had major problems even getting into the other end.

Eh. Isn't it easier to win a tournament without Argentina and Brazil than one with those two?
I would think Brazil would have won at least one Euro if they had magically been included in all of them.

Top to bottom the quality is better at Euros but the quality at the bottom of the World Cup isn't all that important IMO.

It can also be said that the shite show of the World Cup Final and 7-0 wins in the group stages aren't exactly indicative of the tournament.

I'm not saying that the Copa teams are that far below, and I'm not saying that they wouldn't succeed. I'm saying that if you analyzed, on a point scale, the quality of the field for the Euro and the quality of the field for the World Cup, Euro would have a decent margin over them. I think Brazil and Argentina would easily qualify and compete in the tournament, and obviously anyone who makes it to the World Cup can "compete". It's just more obvious the World Cup who's most likely going to make it through.

WTF?

For example (AND THIS IS A VERY ARBITRARY EXAMPLE):

Euro 2012 had 2/16 teams ranked 30 or lower in FIFA's rankings (the 2 hosts). 12% of the field.

WC 2010 had 11/32 teams ranked 30 or lower in FIFA's rankings. 34% of the field.

That said, I am seeing the light, and honestly, I appreciate the opinions. I do tend to overrate European football. I suppose it's because I don't watch much of the South American play. I can agree that I've gone too far on the difficulty.
thank God for that...

Hey guess what I heard there are gonna be 24 teams in the next Euro care to guess what your percentages are gonna be for that?
ETA I am a lifelong member of the Tartan Army, attended France 98 and watched Scotland lose 2-1 to Brazil in the opening match, I am sorry if you think that past the Group Stages the Euros=the W.C.

My stance will change. Like I said, I think it is easier to make it out of the groups at the WC, but the tournament as a whole isn't easier to win.

At that point, my opinion will change because the field will then be saturated, but at this point, that doesn't matter.

Now you can say that WC=Euro, or even WC is slightly better.

Yes. Yes I do. But even Bhoy wouldn't have the audacity to compare Ireland to Argentina

The dilution of the Euro pisses me off. World Cup overall is now right on par with that.
