so what is the deal? incredible run of bad luck? too many injury prone players? too much / too intensive training?
Were these injuries as common at BVB? Can we blame Woy?

Players weren't in good enough shape when Klopp started so there's been more intense training. That combined with high volume of matches combined with the cold weather all doesn't help

I think it's training for sure. Mix that with the run of games in the Premier league and it's a tough recipe to swallow.

Could Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund ally solve Liverpool's injury crisis?

Could Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund ally solve Liverpool's injury crisis?
quote:
There is an argument put forward by regular followers of Borussia Dortmund that the club’s fortunes took a turn for the worse after the departure of one man, four years ago. It was not a player, nor a manager. It was their fitness coach, Oliver Bartlett.
Bartlett, a London-born Australian, joined Borussia Dortmund alongside Jurgen Klopp on 1 July 2008, having been head-hunted by director Michael Zorc while he was working for the German national team.
He was told to improve the Dortmund players’ athleticism and strength to the point where they could carry out Klopp’s relentless high-pressing game, gegenpressing.
Within the space of three years, Dortmund went on to win the Bundesliga title. They followed that with the League and Cup double in 2012. Significantly, they stayed largely injury-free, the players embracing Klopp’s methods and overpowering opponents with a thrilling, rampant brand of football.
Then, in 2012, Bartlett left to join Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg. Very much a disciple of Klopp, Bartlett was a key figure in implementing a similar pressing game, and Salzburg quickly went on to win the league.
quote:
To say Bartlett’s exit was the reason for Dortmund’s decline is a step too far, but it certainly had a big impact.
Something had changed. Injuries had been mounting for years until, in total, only three Dortmund players came through the last campaign at full fitness, and Klopp’s squad suffered 26 separate muscle injuries. High-profile stars Nuri Sahin, Mats Hummels, Marco Reus, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Ilkay Gundogan were all sidelined as Dortmund flirted with disaster.
The argument, essentially, is that Klopp’s style of high-energy football places too much demand on his players’ bodies until they inevitably break down with a series of niggling muscle injuries, and that without a world-class fitness coach – someone like Bartlett – it is a recipe for disaster.

I'll take him or Tottenham's fitness coach. They've been in great shape with Poch and his system

I think its pretty clear whats going on - a combination of the following:
A bit of bad luck
A completely different intensity to the team which had zero preseason preparation and no ability to train for during the season. Think about it - had Klopp come in the summer, we would have built up a different, more sprints per 90 type of fitness regime. Instead we're pushing the players harder with no time to work on fitnes between games
With some of the injuries occuring the remaining players have less break and must play more minmutes, making another injury more likely.
Thats pretty much it - I expect by next summer our squad will have less effects from the sytle due to training for it.

Looks like the kids will be playing today for the FA cup - I wouldn't mind an early exit - or at worst, lets see how far the kids can take it without our main squad having to step in. Plus it gives Klopp some time with the young guys to see who is really ready to start stepping up - and we'll need that depth from some of them this year.

When you take away Gomez/Ings and Henderson/Sturridge (ACL and various niggling injuries, respectively - which have nothing to do with Klopp), you are left with almost nothing but hamstrings which definitely has to do with a busy schedule and more intense training regimen.
Only ones I can think of that are left is Sakho with his knee injury he tweaked.

Our U21's vs Exeter City today. This is the expected lineup.
Enrique has a total of 96 appearances for us. The other 10 have a combined 16. MOTHER OF GOD

Did anyone else read that we're considering a €50mil bid for Mario gotze? Bleacher report is saying klopp wants him. If that's the case then I could for sure see us getting rid of either lallana, firmino, or cou

No, but I saw a rumor that we're going after Granit Xhaka.

Yes, another injury prone cog is exactly what we need.

Saw somewhere that we may have struck a deal for Pato.

Mixed reports...
Everyone knows I've been banging the Pato drum, since he left Italy...
If he's up for it and ready to put in the work, he has all the tools to be WC... i have to think he's ready, because the offer he just turned down from China would have made him the 4th highest paid player in the world (£15mm/yr)
The only issue I have, given the recent injury crisis is... though he hasn't had any serious injuries since he went back to Brazil, the nature of his injuries at AC Milan were all muscular... That gives me some pause, with our hammy outbreak, since we'd really need him to hit the ground running and fit immediately...
at £11mm... I think he's worth it..

i hope I'm very wrong, but i see him more in the training room than on the pitch, if we do sign him....

Yeah. Pato has been plagued with injuries his entire year. This signing is so confusing
