Why is Mbappe criticizing his own coach? Their game plan I thought was on but they just didn't execute.

Sometimes that just happens.

Mbappe's a great player (one of the best no doubt) but this comes off as petty and angry. Wish he hadn't done that. It's a bad look.

What’s the context here for people out of the loop?

"We were three against two in midfield and against Spain, that's hard," Mbappé said after the game. "Fabian [Ruiz] and Rodri had plenty of time to play. There was a lack of communication on the press. I think we should have done man-to-man press and force them to run with us."

"We didn't play the game we wanted, technically, tactically," Mbappé said. "When you don't do what you have to do in a World Cup semifinal, you don't win. Spain respected their game plan and what the team usually does. They like to control the ball and the tempo. Our plan was to press them high so they could not install their rhythm."

"Because they are better than us at controlling a game. We didn't manage to do it. We were too sloppy technically. We could not hurt them when we could have."

"Even when we recovered the ball, our first touches were not good enough. That gives a defeat. It is a huge disappointment. But if we are objective, we didn't put all the ingredients to go to the final," Mbappé said.

I usually try to give them some grace in their 2nd-3rd language, he's not wrong.

Not so bad. It’s ok to be provide reasonable criticism on why you lost.

A bad look is when you date a transvestite.

France did pretty good in the Cup for an African nation.

He's on point, and was not just blaming tactics.

It is a criticism of their formation decision being exploited by Spain. And it is spot on…

He also added that they lost the ball when they won it. So it was not all about formation.

The obvious move for France is to let Deschamps retire and immediately hire Zidane, right?

I am a huge Deschamps fan, but it was an awful strategy given the players they were using and then add in poor player execution and you get that game.

The second Saliba went out, things needed to change and they didn’t. It led to tons of confusion and entirely the reason for the second goal.

Mbappe sounds like a future manager.

It is the French Cup, after all.
