So using correct terminology = trying to be European to you?

A. It is a pitch

B. Some of us are in Europe or are Europeans

I found the thread. It's from the 2010 WC about tiebreakers. And another thread about teams being more aggressive moving a goalie up.

And if we're going to call it a pitch. This needs to be the Football Board.

Why? Soccer is a contraction of Association Football.

The terminology is arbitrary, and many people have arbitrarily adopted the British terms for things like the field, the game, the uniform.

Yes, it is trying to be European. I grew up playing the game, and the only person who called the field a pitch was my English coach.

Holy shite. You're still mad about a message board thread from 2010?

I'll drop it if the SB regs can agree to not get stuck up about it if I want to call it a field.

We don't really care. We put it in the How to Survive thread because we'll be using it and we want everybody to be able to understand what we're saying so we can have a good conversation.

Then why do our guys call it a pitch? Are they too trying to be European (even the ones who haven't played there call it a pitch). I just think that's a silly reason to say te board are euro snobs. Would you say that an English guy calling the football field a field instead of a pitch is trying to be American?

Fine. You're still trolling because of a message board thread from 2010?
