You suggested that it be reviewed in a booth and handed out in the middle of the game. A more plausible idea would be post-game, as interrupting games to handle disciplinary issues would hurt the flow of the game.

I believe I said it would be announced at the next stoppage after the review. Thus, not changing the flow.

Some people on this board disagree with after the fact carding. Not everyone agrees with how to fix things.

I liken middle of the match carding to middle of the game technical after a review of a flop in basketball. You just can't do it. So much has happened while it's being reviewed that it would completely disrupt the flow.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread and was told it was impossible.

It's not impossible, but you have to understand how FIFA works. It is the association of football associations, so it speaks ultimately for them. If an individual FA wants to start retroactively banning players, then that is within their power to do so. The problem is that the FAs would effectively be putting their own representatives, the referees, on trial, which the referees do not want and the FAs do not want.

Now FIFA could start retroactively banning players only in international tournaments, but the push hasn't been so strong that this is likely to occur. Again, duping the ref is a part of the game in some countries, and unsportsmanlike in others.

Question: is there anything about the sport in its current form the SB regulars would want to see changed?

Qatar stripped of hosting WC 2022, retroactive bans for diving, a re-working of the coefficient system.

When did anyone ever say this?

Pretty much what Mo Jeaux was talking about earlier.

My fricking God, do you not have the ability to infer?

This is grade-A trolling, I must admit, because you've really grinded my gears.

Just re-read this thread and tell me how you could possibly believe that this perception of a hive mindset is not thought about the soccer board.

And then on the last page you ask if we think there is anything that should be changed concerning soccer? That's suggesting that there may be some who will answer "No" to said question, or you asked a rhetorical question that you knew the answer to.

No one is this obtuse. I refuse to believe it.

Thus it is a bit of a cultural difference within the sport which is hard to legislate. What constitutes a dive is ultimately an interpretation of what constitutes a foul. A referee could defend himself yesterday and say that Lovren had his left hand on Fred's shoulder which constituted contact and thus led to the penalty. It's not a black and white thing, as the contact allowed in a sport varies from referee to referee. I think that some referees succumb to the pressure and it would be helpful if they had someone to take the pressure off of them, but FIFA has been hesitant to allow more referee assistants on the field. Even when they have like in UEFA, they really haven't improved the quality of the game to be quite honest.

Ground. "You've really ground my gears." Present tense and past tense don't mix.
