More fun facts

Julian Green played in 0 of 16 WC qualifiers
He scored 0 of 26 US WC qualifying goals
Landon Donovan scored 1.
In Julian's very first game with the USMNT, the US played a decent game, none of which Julian was on the pitch for.

Julian better be the real fricking deal to be given a spot over the greatest US player ever.

You can say the same thing about Donovan's last game. They came on the field at the same time.

Donovan has scored more World Cup goals than Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie combined.

Just read it in a Brit paper.

How is what LD did between 2002-2010 going to help us in 2014?

Again, how is that different than Timmy Chandler?
We aren't as deep at LB/RB as we are at forward.

Dempsey participated fully in training today and said he is ready to play Sunday.

How is what Julian Green and Brad Davis have EVER done in a USA kit going to help us in Brazil?

It won't help any more than Donovan's goal against Mexico in 2002. And yet again, Brad Davis did not take a spot away from Donovan.

I really don't see why you would have had to do anything in a USA kit to make this team. Just be one of the best American players in your position. Sentimental value shouldn't play a role.

So Landon Donovan is not one of our best 23?

It's not about the best 23. Jurgen wanted 4 forwards. Looks like LD was #5.

Wondolowski took LD's spot, not Green, Davis, JAB, Yedlin, etc.

That's a pretty naive way to look at it but whatever. LD played as a LW just last summer for us and has been deployed all over the midfield in the past. For a coach who loves versatile players this is a big omission. Calling LD strictly a forward is dumber than saying Cameron can only play RB.

Bingo. I never got the "I only see LD as a forward" thing. It makes no sense at all. I guess it was the first hint he would leave him off the roster though.

Naive or not, that's how Jurgen decided to look at it.

I've been trying to focus on the 23 players that are going to Brazil; one whom, Mix Diskerud, seemed like a big part of this week's episodes, and he just seems like an awesome dude. One of my favorite non-SKC players in the squad. Hope he balls out and earns a move to a bigger club this summer.

David Shaw go Stanford. This team can get out the group. Gonna be tough, but these guys, OUR guys, can do it.
