Here's another one for you:

In fact, the forward - who has had two loans spells in England with Everton - has more international goals than any other player going to the Brazil except for Didier Drogba and Miroslav Klose.

guys like you who showed him no mercy when he was having to piece together a team just to make the hex.
So we fight for our lives to qualify without LD, but we don't need him in the actual tournament we struggled to qualify for without him?

Reference Sheep's post up above.
5 games out of 16. 1 goal. Sheep did make a good point about his assists, though. I agree he can make us more dangerous, especially on the counter attack.

Try to see both sides and leave room for the idea that maybe Jurgen isn't totally incompetent and childish = fanboy
Act emotional, forget the overall good job Jurgen has done, trash the players who did make it, call people who disagree with you idiots, etc etc = voice of reason

Again, unless he was undermining Jurgen or doing something else we don't know about, I would have included him even though he abandoned the team in qualifying, looked bad so far this season, decided not to go on loan this winter, didn't give 100% in practice, etc.
But to your point I quoted, we weren't struggling when he came back. The team had found its identity and had won something like 7 of 10 games by that point.
That said, it would have been a lot easier to deal with this if he had proven himself out of form in these friendlies. I don't know JKs thoughts or reasons because he's not giving them to us. I'm just not going to assume the worst without more info. If that makes me a fanboy, then whatever.

Listen, the bottom line is this:
Does he make the team better?
&
Are there 23 better players than him?
I think we both know the answer to those questions. Jürgen is leaving off a player who has scored a lot of goals in World Cups and is acknowledged as a leader and legend among the current crop of players and his reasoning has nothing to do with soccer.
If that doesn't piss you off, then maybe we're just wired differently.

This. All day erryday.

We raped the hex. Not sure what this struggling business is, but Sheep showed that Donovan's presence helped.

He did give his thoughts and reasons and it is clear to just about everyone, from fan to commentator, that his thoughts and reasons are BS. He is dishonest. Its personal, he is proving a point (his point) and if it means a weaker US team for this World Cup then so be it. He has his contract.

If Jurgen thinks that, then he should be fired for not including him.

That's an assumption I don't grant because I believe Jurgen wants what's best for the USMNT. My guess is that Jurgen thinks that if Landon is on the team, the team will naturally defer to him even though he isn't the player he once was and that it will hurt the team overall. I think Jurgen has a lot more belief in the other players than y'all do. But if there's a living legend on your team, that's going to affect how you play.
The real question to me is whether Landon is still the type of player that can do Gold Cup like stuff against the likes of Germany, Ghana, and Portugal. If the answer is yes, then you take him without question. If he's still one of your best 23 but not THAT good anymore, it's not so cut and dry. JK has to build the best team he can, and that doesn't mean taking the best 23 individual players.
Y'all can and will say I'm talking a bunch of bs when this should be simple; i.e . Landon scores and creates chances so shut up and take him.
But obviously JK has a complicated view on this, which is why he can't give a satisfactory short answer to why he left him off.
Either that or Jurgen is a self-centered child who is lying because he can't tell the truth: that he left Landon off because he wanted this World Cup to be about him.

We agreed on something.
Does Donovan really have more goals than everyone participating in this World Cup except for Klose and Drogba?
Just looked it up:
Klose - 14 (hope he can bag two more against Ghana)
David Villa - 8 (not a bad career, but did he get cut after making the 30 man?)
Forlan - 6
Sneijder, Muller, and Podolski also have five goals.
If Donovan was selected, then he would been the player in the tournament with the most caps. Now, he will be almost assuredly be passed by Iker Casillas. Donovan has 156 caps and Casillas has 153.

Landon played in only 5 of 16 WC qualifiers He scored only 1 of 26 US WC qualifying goals Carlos Bocanegra scored 2. In Landon's first game back from vacation, the US played its worst game, losing 3-1 to Costa Rica. While JK was taking massive heat for poor results while trying to form a team without Landon, Landon was finding himself on vacation, missing qualifiers by choice. Landon had every right to abandon the team when they needed him. Jurgen has every right to build the team he believes in.
Agree completely.
People still don't understand that Jurgen left him off because Landy gave zero effort for a year and a half. And then of course he magically went off last Saturday when he knew people would be watching.
He's more than talented enough obviously, but he can't just be his own boss and decide when he wants to work and when he doesn't.

Again, how is that different than Timmy Chandler?

Jurgen has done a pitiful job managing this situation because he can't justify it. The team doesn't look sold on leaving LD off the pitch either.

Which year and a half?
2012 - where he led the Galaxy to MLS Cup, after having played for 18 consecutive months (Galaxy - Everton - Galaxy, plus the national team)?
Or was it 2013 - Where he lead the national team in both goals and assists?
Just want to make sure I have it straight.

Lead is a heavy metal.
Led is the past tense of the verb "to lead."
But yes, I concur
