My response is useless because it was in 97 but saw Wednesday play Man U at Hillsborough.

I watched PSG beat Dijon in Paris on the last match day of the year in 2019 to finish Ligue 1. We sat in the 4th row. Mbappe scored a brace. Very cool night.

My first European game was at Hillsborough. A historic stadium that has gotten some upgrades since I was last there. Just wish Sheffield Wednesday would start working their way back up through the leagues.

Bayern-Dortmund in the spring of 2018 at Allianz Arena...a Bayern supporter came to Finn McCool’s pub for a match in the fall of 2017 and said to hit him up if we ever needed tickets.

He delivered...südkurve/ultras tickets for 35€ each, paired with a pregame tailgate in the bus area with racks of bier unlike the MGD64 version inside the stadium...a true locals experience.

On my deathbed I’ll remember that 6-0 win and all the pre/post festivities.

I lucked into an easy route, but bottom line find a way to get those tickets

I’ve been to a few games so I’ll list the procedures for each.

Marseille, champions league: bought tickets through the supporters group

Chievo Verona (Serie A): bought tickets online through viagogo or some such site

Fulham: same as above, or through club site

NEC Nijmegen: couldn’t find a link on their website so I emailed the club and they hooked me up, I just picked up the tickets at the box when I got there

St. Pats (Ireland): walked up to the box

When in doubt I find that emailing the club works pretty well.

Luckily enough to sit with City away at Chelsea. That was stupid fun, even tho we lost. - that ticket was near possible.

The other times I’ve seen city it’s not hard.

I have been to a Millwall game and went to the Bayern Opener in 2019, went through the club both times. Sat on the 2nd row for Millwall, was literally the last row for Bayern.

It was in 2017 so no Green Street Hooligan stories, and they were actually the FA Family Friendly award winners the year before I think, but the funniest thing that happened was the ball went out of play into the stands to a 4 or 5 year old, the opposing player came over to grab the ball and the kick fake threw the ball and told him to frick off. Defintely would recommend going to one of the smaller stadiums, was an awesome experience.

Only match I’ve been to was hammarby in Sweden. Though I’m sure serie a matches are quite different than whatever the Swedish league is called.

Yup, I went to Loftus Road and it was awesome. Definitely less of a sanitized NFL feel you get in some of the larger venues.

I asked my hotel concierge in Paris to get me two tickers to PSG Marseille for around $150 each, thinking this would be the price of some decent seats for an American sports game.

Dude ended up snagging me seats with a VIP entrance (entered on a red carpet right behind the team bus). We got to go through an area with all of PSG’s trophies. We got to eat fantastic food before the game while a pre match show was being filmed. And the seats were on the second row about mid way between mid field and the goal.

In other words, my anecdotal evidence suggests it’s easy to get tickets.

Three years ago my wife and I were sitting watching a premier league match on a Saturday morning. She said, you know spring break is a week away and we do not have anything planned for the boys, we should go watch a match. One week later we were on a flight to London. She handled flight and accommodations and I secured the tickets.

My youngest son is a big Chelsea fan but unfortunately Chelsea had no home games the week we were there. We did tour Stamford Bridge however.

I found tickets to see Manchester City play Ajax in the Champions league through LiveFootballTickets.com. I forgot what we paid but it went well. The tickets were delivered to our hotel. Can't vouch more than that one experience with that reseller. The morning we landed we had a few hours to check out the area around the hotel then off to Manchester. My son and I stayed in Manchester that night and took and early train back to London.

Chelsea was playing at Everton later in the week and I found tickets for the four of us through the Football Club. So another two hour train ride to Liverpool.

TLDR: Tickets can be had and it was a wonderful trip that my boys will remember forever.

ETA: It was City v Shalke, not Ajax

Yes I went to Alaves-Eibar (La Liga) in February 2020 just before the lockdown. Paid 35 euros and sat just above the ultras.

Super easy to get tix. Got them at the team store in downtown.
