Kinda the opposite of Spain, where they needed Germany to beat Costa Rica and got it. I’m going to think Uruguay obviously assumed they were safe. Worked out really well for Spain and abysmally for Uruguay.

so if Brazil wins Group G... their path to the Final would be South Korea - Japan/Croatia - Dutch/USA/Argentina

Just think if Argentina wouldn’t have recovered too.

Poland would be in their place and Brasil would be heavy favorites until the final.

I'm thinking France-Spain and Brazil/Argentina as the Final 4. Maybe Morocco sneaks their way into the Semi's.

Really going out on a limb. But with the way this WC has gone so far, I bet we get one or two more massive upsets.

I’d want to be as far away from South America as possible.

I think we see more chalk from here on out. When teams were really trying, the cream rose to the top.
Round of 16 is almost all rent-a-wins. Quarters not much better, though England-France and Portugal-Spain could get interesting. But I think it’s the Kings of CONMEBOL on one side and the Battle of the Pyrenees on the other.

I have been to 18 of the 32 countries in the World Cup

As it stands 12 of the 18 will be advancing to the knockout stage

Yep. As soon as Japan started trying they easily came back and handled Germany and Spain

Spain was playing for second. Germany is hardly the cream anymore.

Brazil is both awesome and a shite hole in its own right. Probably the sketchiest of the lot.

Love seeing Ecuador at -3 for 2026.

Yikes. Even with an expanded tournament that’s a tough penalty
