That should have been a penalty. Ronaldo was right to argue about it, but only few players would get away that much complaining without a card.

Judgment call. Both players were playing hard for the ball and contact was more or less incidental.

You can say that about any sport. In baseball, the strike zone is different from ump to ump. Even in football, refs are often inconsistent from call to call and game to game (take for instance, pass interference judgment calls).
