People are really overreacting to this bite. It's not like he took a chunk of flesh off his arm.

That's really not the point. The guy has bitten THREE TIMES!

It is the third time he has done it during a match.

Good point. It's ok as long as there isn't a mass of flesh hanging out of the biter's mouth.

Dumb question: If a player is set to be suspended for accumulated yellows (e.g., Balotelli) but his team is eliminated, does he have to sit out his team's next international match?

No. But not the dumbest question ever.

Not at all overreacting.

Americans have these visions of heroic buzzer beaters and hail mary's. Soccer doesn't really work that way.

Except for Sunday.

Thanks. I figured it applied only to this tournament but wasn't sure.

I like how the Uruguayan teammate was trying to cover up Chiellini's shoulder.

You stated that you know "exactly" when the game will end. Explain how you can calculate the exact time the ending whistle will be blown.

Any reference to any other sport does not mean anything in this discussion. Explain how you calculate the exact time for a soccer match as you stated you could here:

Those of us who can do basic math know exactly how much time is left.

You think the play is blown dead as the clock hits zero in football?

Cmon bro. We all know in football if you get the play off before the whistle, that is certifiably the last play, outside a defensive penalty. You don't get nearly the wide disparity in "extra time" as soccer.

I'm not criticizing the soccer system, but your analogy isn't close

It must take a lot of control not to grab Suarez by the neck and smash his face in when he's biting you.

My God, I couldn't decide which team was filthier. Two of possibly the dirtiest, shameless teams around.

I see the clock. I subtract the amount of time left. If there's a dangerous attacking play in progress as time expires, the ref will let it play out (just like in football).

So, you're right, I don't know the "exact" time left in soccer, but you don't in football or baseball either. Only in basketball does anyone know the "exact" time left.

Extra time has nothing to do with it considering you know how much extra time there is. The only variable is whether or not an attack is building as time expires.

Leave baseball out of this. It's not a timed sport.

Nothing wrong with that. Gaston wanted to protect his teammate and get the ball rolling again because Uruguay still needed a goal.
