One of the most talented players I've ever watched. The speed he used to come down the wing with at Spurs and Madrid was something else.

Now he can actually do what he loves and hit the links.

Going to miss him.

That Tom Carroll assist for his wonder goal against West Ham will forever be remembered.

What a tough career to describe. Wonder kid turned bust, turned elite player, turned always hurt, turned pro soccer player who rather plays golf. Lots of great moments to be remembered by, but he could have been one of the best ever if he took his career more seriously and avoided more injuries. Fun to watch no doubt.

Eh thats kind of harsh, he still is one of the best british players of all time. Serial winner scored some of the biggest goals in Madrid history.

Was listening to caught offside at work earlier and they brought up, is he the best British player ever?

He sure has the trophies from Madrid. And of course getting a country like Wales to the World Cup and the Semis of the Euros.

I’m older but don’t feel older because of his time at spurs. But now I do feel really old.

Who would the other all-time Brits be?

Let’s go 1980s and onward

Scholes, Linekar, Beckham, Bale, Giggs, Rooney, I would say Kane is already up there.
Maybe Rio Ferdinand if we want some positional diversity.

Gascoigne doesn’t have the consistency, Sherningham isn’t good enough, neither is Ashley Cole.

Shearer has to be on that list.

Yeah I literally had Alan Shearer as the final name I was going to add but I got distracted and forgot and just submitted my post without including him

Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush are fantastic players who I’ve never seen before, but they fit in my criteria as well.

Which was Bales best moment? Ending Maicon’s career at Milan when he scored 2 goals within 2 minutes in that 2011 champions league matchup at the San Siro or the bicycle kick vs Liverpool?
